1 Bed Character Filled Glasgow Apartment Overview
You know what struck me first about the 1 Bed Character Filled Glasgow Apartment? The name actually undersells it – this place has way more personality than most cookie-cutter hotels I’ve stayed in. Tucked away on Victoria Circus in the West End, you’re basically in the heart of what makes Glasgow feel like a proper university city, with all the energy that comes with it.
The apartment itself sits in one of those beautiful Victorian tenements that the West End is famous for – I mean, you can’t fake that kind of architectural character. The 0/2 flat designation means you’re on the ground floor, which honestly made lugging my suitcase up from the street so much easier than I expected. Inside, it’s got this lived-in warmth that feels nothing like a sterile hotel room. The furnishings have clearly been chosen by someone who actually cares about comfort over just looking good in photos, and there are these little touches – maybe some local art or quirky vintage pieces – that make you feel like you’re staying in a friend’s place rather than just passing through.
Location-wise, you’re golden here. Victoria Circus puts you right in the thick of the student quarter, which means fantastic pubs within walking distance (seriously, some of Glasgow’s best are just around the corner), plus you’re close enough to Byres Road that grabbing groceries or finding a decent coffee shop is never a mission. I loved being able to walk to the Botanic Gardens when I needed a bit of green space, and getting into the city center is dead easy – either a pleasant stroll down through Kelvingrove Park or a quick subway ride from Hillhead station. The area does get a bit lively on weekend nights, which you’ll either love or find slightly annoying depending on what you’re after, but honestly, that’s just Glasgow showing its social side.
What really won me over was how the place manages to feel both homey and practical. The kitchen actually has proper equipment – not just the bare minimum you usually get in short-term rentals – and the bed was genuinely comfortable, which I can’t say about every place I’ve crashed in Scotland. The 7.3 rating seems about right; it’s not trying to be luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises with a bit of Glasgow grit and charm thrown in. Plus, staying here gives you that authentic West End experience without paying city center hotel prices, which honestly makes it feel like you’re getting away with something.

Reviews of 1 Bed Character Filled Glasgow Apartment
Beautifully decadent apartment, the perfect base in Glasgow’s West End – Annabel from United Kingdom – March 21, 2025 (8/10)
Beautiful apartment filled with character, the perfect location just a short walk from the West End.
Lovely apartment in the West End – Paul from United Kingdom – September 14, 2024 (8/10)
Nearly everything. Great size rooms, generally went equipped. The decor is exceptional and retains many original Georgian features.
The location is fantastic for Byres Road and Great Western Road. It's a quiet apartment for the location too.
What could be improved: Only 1 bulb out of about 6 in the bedroom chandelier was working.
The kitchen sink needs a washing up bowl.
It needs a microwave – and there is plenty of space for one.Lovely relaxing place to stay. – Julie from United Kingdom – January 7, 2025 (8/10)
It was spacious and well presented.
Lovely comfortable bed. Great location, close to shops and restaurants.Eventually ok but all this should be felt with upfront. A little misleading. – Norman from United Kingdom – December 26, 2024 (8/10)
Period building
What could be improved: Key and reception arrangements .
LED to believe we would be met at the property but no one to do that. Key from a locked box on fence across the road. Had trouble accessing it. Dark cold evening spent 45 minutes sorting it out from someone remote.Apartment did what is said on the tin, thanks! – Susan from United Kingdom – November 11, 2024 (8/10)
Quiet, spacious, comfortable, great location
Wonderful – Gamia from United Kingdom – April 10, 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: No microwaveBeautiful apartment, great location. Enjoyed it tremendously – Cowman from United States – May 10, 2023 (10/10)
Location near a deli, the Botanic Park. & Byers Road
Character filled apartment spoilt by the managing agents, Spothost of Glasgow – Sue from United Kingdom – March 31, 2025 (5/10)
Good location, close to botanical garden and walkable to most attractions. The owner has beautifully restored the property with a fully fitted (but no microwave) modern kitchen. Nice views of the square from the large bay window. double glazing means it is quiet and there is central heating (boiler found in a cupboard in the kitchen).
What could be improved: – No smoke alarm or carbon monoxide detector.
– Only one hand towel between two people and small, poor quality bath towels. No tea towels in the kitchen.
– No extra pillows – only one each.
– £90 cleaning fee included in price for which we expected the cleaner to clean under the bed, behind the shutters, wash down the bathroom door and remove the mould from the shower.
– Shower head falling off the wall and toilet bowl wobbles which is probably why water is constantly flowing into the toilet. We did inform the managing agent via telephone message so hopefully they will repair.
– Communication with managing agent is dire.
– The telephone number, which it says can be used in an emergency, defaults to an answerphone and despite leaving messages they failed to call back or deal with our issues such as extra towels and pillows.
– No instructions for anything such as where to place rubbish when you leave or how to turn on heating when you arrive.
– Expected the heating to be programmed to come on when we arrived but it was not and as they were big rooms, took time to locate the boiler and even longer to heat the rooms.
– Refused to let us drop off our case at the property before 3pm (it took 2 e-mails through Booking.com before they even responded) despite the property being empty before our arrival and refused to send out check in details 24 hours before we arrived, as it says they will do when you book so if you do not have access to Wi-Fi when you arrive in Glasgow, you will not be able to gain entry.
– Good instructions for finding key box but the keys were sitting in a pool of rusty water.
– Still waiting to hear they have refunded the hefty £250 deposit which they say can take up to two weeks.Beautiful place, extreme hassle – Tiffani from United States – March 13, 2025 (1/10)
Great location, beautiful apartment.
What could be improved: No matter how beautiful a place is, when I am traveling I appreciate being comfortable and not expected to fulfill duties as a "tenant" when things go wrong due to multiple issues. After an exhausting day of travel, this place just felt like such a hassle which began before I even arrived. After dealing with 2 separate issues within 90 minutes of arrival and little cooperation from the management, I returned the keys to the lockbox and left. It just wasn't worth it to me to be cold, exhausted and continue a 2 hour text exchange about issues that should have been remedied before I arrived. No refund given even after I requested it, oh well. This is why these travel accommodation websites are in decline. Lesson learned.
