I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to 2Bed Apartment-City Centre on Charlotte Street, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from what’s essentially a residential building housing holiday lets. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that don’t scream “tourist accommodation” from the street.

The location is actually brilliant if you want to feel like you’re living in Glasgow rather than just visiting it. Charlotte Street puts you right in the thick of the East End, which I mean in the best possible way – you’re close enough to walk to the Merchant City in about ten minutes, but far enough from the main drag that you won’t have drunk students stumbling past your windows at 2am. The apartment itself feels properly spacious (rare for city centre digs, honestly), and whoever set it up clearly thought about what travelers actually need. The kitchen‘s got everything you’d want if you fancy grabbing some bits from the nearby Tesco Metro instead of eating out every meal – which, let’s face it, your wallet will thank you for in a city where restaurant prices have gone a bit mad lately.

What really won me over was how the place strikes this balance between being comfortable without trying too hard to impress. The beds are actually decent – not those rock-hard mattresses you sometimes get in budget places, but not so fancy that you’re afraid to put your suitcase down. The whole setup feels like staying in a friend’s flat, assuming your friend has good taste and keeps things tidy. Parking can be a bit of a dance around here (welcome to Glasgow city centre), but there are paid spots nearby, and honestly, you probably won’t need a car much once you’re settled. The transport links are solid – you can walk to Queen Street station if you’re heading north, or hop on a bus that’ll get you pretty much anywhere else you want to go. I was surprised by how quiet it gets in the evenings too, considering you’re so central. The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s thoughtfully done and genuinely comfortable, which matters more than fancy toiletries when you’re actually trying to sleep after a long day exploring the city.

  What could be improved: Host relationship and communication. The apartment wasn´t clean at our arrival, we had to clean cutlery and tableware. Some aspects of the apartment look that it underwent a bad refurbishment.
