What really won me over was how the space actually works for a group – and I’ve stayed in plenty of places that claim to sleep six but leave someone cramped on a questionable sofa bed. This isn’t one of those situations. The three bedrooms are properly sized, and the common areas don’t feel squeezed when everyone’s hanging about. The kitchen‘s got everything you need if you want to grab some bits from the Tesco Metro down the road instead of eating out every night (your wallet will thank you, trust me). The whole place has that lived-in comfort that makes you feel settled rather than like you’re tiptoeing around someone’s showroom. I particularly appreciated the little touches – decent Wi-Fi that actually worked throughout the flat, proper blackout curtains in the bedrooms, and enough hot water for everyone to shower without the last person getting an arctic surprise.

The area does get a bit lively on weekends – you’re in student territory, after all – but it’s never been rowdy enough to keep me awake. Actually, I found the gentle hum of West End life rather comforting. During the day, you’ve got that perfect mix of locals going about their business and visitors exploring, which gives the whole area this vibrant but not touristy feel. The transport links are brilliant too; you can hop on the subway at Hillhead and be in the city center in no time, or catch a bus pretty much anywhere you need to go. For what you’re paying and where you’re staying, it’s genuinely hard to find fault with the setup. Sometimes the simplest approach – comfortable beds, good location, reasonable price – is exactly what you need.
