The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from this brand – modern, comfortable beds that don’t leave you with a crick in your neck, and bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure. I stayed on the seventh floor and it was surprisingly quiet, even though you’re right in the thick of things in the city center.

Here’s something I really appreciated – the AC Lounge on the ground floor serves proper gin and tonics, not those watered-down hotel bar disasters. They’ve got a decent selection of Scottish gins too, which feels like the right move when you’re in Scotland. The breakfast situation is solid without being extraordinary – fresh pastries, good coffee, and they do a proper Scottish breakfast if that’s what you’re after. Parking can be a bit of a headache in this part of the city (honestly, it’s Glasgow city center, what do you expect?), but the hotel has a arrangement with a nearby car park that takes some of the stress out of it. Check-in was smooth – no weird surprises with fees or room availability issues that sometimes happen with chain hotels. The location puts you within walking distance of most of the main shopping areas and cultural spots, plus you’re close enough to the Merchant City that you can easily explore some of the better restaurants and pubs without needing to figure out transport. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s exactly the kind of place where you can get a good night’s sleep, start your day properly, and not worry about any unpleasant surprises.
