There’s a Tesco just down the road on Paisley Road West if you need supplies. The view from the living room window is what seals the deal though – you can see right across to the Hydro and beyond. On clear days (and Glasgow does have them, despite what people say), you get this lovely sprawl of the city that reminds you why people fall for this place. The evening light hitting the buildings around 7 PM in summer? Actually beautiful.

Now, it’s not the Ritz – the building itself is pretty standard 1970s Glasgow housing, and you can occasionally hear your neighbors if they’re having a proper laugh. But that 8.9 rating makes sense when you factor in the whole package. The host responds to messages quickly, the WiFi actually works for video calls, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t feel like it was designed by a committee. I’ve recommended it to three different people since, especially anyone coming for events at the Hydro or just wanting to experience Glasgow from a local’s perspective rather than the usual Merchant City bubble. For the money – and especially with that parking included – it’s one of those finds that makes you feel a bit smug about your travel planning skills.

    Lovely flat in a great location, we really enjoyed the view and how easy it was to get to the SEC and into the centre. The instructions ahead of arrival were really clear and helpful and the flat had everything we needed.

    What could be improved: The option for a second set of keys would have been really helpful. It would be good to put a new sign on the window that can't be opened – the one there has faded.

    Great view both night and day. Perfect location for the SEC Armadillo and not far to stop 10 on the hop on hop off city sightseeing tour bus.
    The apartment was clean and comfortable and after a quick phone call to Brian, easy to access.

    What could be improved: I have no complaints only a suggestion that a coat rack in the hall would be useful for wet coats coming into the property.
