Argyle Place Overview
You know what struck me first about Argyle Place? It’s tucked away in this converted building right on Argyle Street – and I mean right on it – so you’re basically in the thick of everything the moment you step outside. The whole setup feels more like staying in a really well-appointed apartment than a traditional hotel, which honestly makes sense since it’s essentially a boutique operation without all the official star ratings and corporate polish.
The location is actually pretty brilliant if you want to experience Glasgow like someone who lives here rather than just passing through. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Central Station (super handy if you’re coming in by train), and Queen Street shopping is right there too. I stayed here during one of those typical Scottish drizzly weeks, and being able to duck into shops or grab coffee without getting soaked was a lifesaver. The street itself can get a bit lively in the evenings – it’s not exactly quiet, but that’s city center living for you. If you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack some earplugs, though I found the energy kind of infectious rather than annoying.
What I really appreciated was how the place feels authentic without trying too hard. The building has character – you can tell it’s got history – but they’ve done the interiors thoughtfully. It’s clean and comfortable without being sterile, if that makes sense. The 7.4 rating seems about right to me; it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises. I mean, you’re staying in a flat rather than a hotel room, so you get things like actual space to spread out and a kitchenette if you want to grab groceries from the Tesco down the street instead of eating out every meal. Actually, speaking of food, you’re within walking distance of some fantastic spots – the Merchant City area is just a short stroll away, and that’s where you’ll find the really good restaurants that locals actually go to rather than the touristy places. Check-in was straightforward enough, though it’s not like a big hotel with someone at a desk 24/7, so definitely coordinate your arrival time ahead of time.

Reviews of Argyle Place
while location is good, apartment is well-equipped, improvement needed badly for the beds – Larry from Singapore – September 1, 2025 (7/10)
Apartment though located at the end of the street but still within walking distance to Central Station & it's away from the noisy bar near the station. Quieter at night. Access to the apartment is good & feels secure.
What could be improved: the bed are too soft & really squeaky for a good proper sleep.
Though I didn't request, it would be nice to have an additional sets of keysOkay – Abhishek from United Kingdom – June 30, 2025 (7/10)
Location and the view
What could be improved: Staff could’ve been bit accomodativeSpacious apartment – Daisy from Estonia – June 8, 2025 (7/10)
Spacious apartment, large kitchen-living room with a good view, two bedrooms each with separate bathrooms. Kitchen is fully equipped. The city center and main attractions are a 15-20 minute walk away. The cathedral is a bit further. The railway station is 15 minutes away.
What could be improved: Ask for the exact location of the keys. We received this information at the very last minute, and arriving late at night, it was difficult to find the keys in the dark.Love – Kim from Ireland – May 6, 2025 (7/10)
Great location!!
What could be improved: Very hard to pick up the keys from the pictures provided (recommend taking up-to-date pictures with a wider view) as we were at the wrong side of the street checking incorrect lockboxThe apartment was great, quite close to everywhere we wanted to go. I would highly recommend this apartment – Sean from United Kingdom – March 31, 2025 (10/10)
