The front desk clerk – I think her name was Sarah – gave me genuine restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist traps, and she was spot-on about the little café around the corner that does incredible breakfast pastries. The rooms themselves are what I’d call properly comfortable rather than flashy. My bed was one of those perfect firmness levels where you don’t wake up with a sore back, and the bathroom had decent water pressure (honestly, you’d be surprised how many places mess that up). The décor won’t win any design awards, but it’s tasteful and uncluttered – I mean, sometimes you just want a place that feels like home without someone trying to impress you with avant-garde furniture.

I stayed during what seemed to be a busy period, but the place never felt chaotic or overwhelmed. You know what I really appreciated? The walls are actually thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation from the next room – that’s become surprisingly rare these days. The housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive, and they managed to work around my erratic schedule without any fuss. With an 8.0 rating, I’d say they’ve earned every point of it through consistent attention to the basics rather than flashy extras. It’s the kind of place where you check in feeling a bit travel-weary and check out genuinely refreshed, which is really all you can ask for. If you’re looking for somewhere reliable that won’t break the bank but also won’t leave you counting the hours until checkout, the Argyll Hotel delivers exactly what it promises – and sometimes that’s perfect.
