Art Deco Building on Vibrant Sauchiehall Street Overview

First Impressions

The Art Deco Building on Vibrant Sauchiehall Street caught my eye immediately — not just because of its striking 1930s facade, but because of where it sits. You’re literally in the thick of everything here, right on Glasgow’s main shopping and entertainment strip. I mean, step outside and you’ve got the Pavilion Theatre practically next door, plus all those independent shops and cafes that make Sauchiehall Street feel so alive. The building itself has that classic Art Deco charm that somehow feels both vintage and fresh at the same time.

Location & Getting Around

Honestly, the location is what makes this place special — couples seem to get it, rating it 9.0, and I can see why. You’re a five-minute walk from Buchanan Street’s shopping district, and the subway station is right there when you need to explore further out. What I really appreciated was being able to walk to the West End for dinner (about 15 minutes) or catch a show at the King’s Theatre without needing transport. The three-star rating might not scream fancy, but the position more than makes up for any missing frills.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully laid out — you know what, it felt very Glasgow in that practical, no-nonsense way. The Art Deco touches weren’t overdone, just subtle nods in the lighting fixtures and mirror frames that reminded you of the building’s character. The bed was comfortable enough, and the windows actually opened (always a plus), though you’ll hear some street noise since you’re right on the main drag. The bathroom was clean and modern, which honestly surprised me given the building’s age.

Neighborhood Vibes

What really won me over was stepping out in the evening and feeling like I was part of the city’s rhythm. Sauchiehall Street transforms after dark — there’s this energy from people heading to shows, grabbing drinks, or just wandering between the various pubs and clubs. During the day, it’s all about the shopping and people-watching from one of the many coffee spots nearby. The Willow Tea Rooms (the famous Mackintosh one) is literally around the corner, which feels like a little piece of Glasgow history you can actually touch.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t a place you choose for spa treatments or fancy amenities — it’s about being right where Glasgow’s heart beats strongest. The 8.8 location score tells the real story here. You’re saving money on transport, you can pop back to your room between activities, and you’re never more than a few minutes from whatever you want to do. For the price point, especially if you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the city anyway, it just makes sense. The Art Deco charm is the cherry on top of what’s essentially a smart, central base for discovering Glasgow.

Locals suggest to book apartments in Glasgow around Finnieston for craft breweries and pop-up supper clubs.

Easy to collect keys and easy to check out. The apartment was spotless and spacious. The sofa bed was great – large double size. The apartment we got was at the back of the building so no views but we were happy with that because it was so quiet at night and we all got a fantastic sleep! To be honest, we've never cared about the views of a hotel/apartment anyway and would rather take a quiet apartment over nice noisy views. The location is excellent. It's on the main street with all the bars and restaurants. There is a Tesco express downstairs and many other small grocery stores nearby which stayed open during the storm. We were meant to check out on the day of Storm Eowyn and we contacted the apartment the night before to request staying for another night. The host was wonderful and came back to us very quickly and it was an easy process to extend our stay. The service was amazing. I can't thank them enough. I highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

The Art Deco building is really interesting, and it's so helpful to have a grocery store just downstairs.

  • Simona from Luxembourg (7/10)

The property is quite centrally located, close to the area we were interested in, walking distance from the shopping area.

The building has indeed a small Tesco at the ground floor which is very helpful for small groceries shopping.

We had no issues with the internet connection (I had to work for a short while from time to time, done it without any interruptions).
