Artto Hotel Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Artto Hotel on Hope Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in the middle of Glasgow. But you know what? Sometimes these unassuming spots surprise you, and this one definitely has its charm. The building itself has that classic Scottish stone facade that blends right into the streetscape, and honestly, that’s part of what I liked about it – it feels like you’re staying somewhere that belongs in the city, not some generic chain that could be anywhere.
The location is actually pretty brilliant if you ask me. Hope Street puts you right in the thick of Central Glasgow without the chaos of, say, Buchanan Street. I mean, you can walk to George Square in about five minutes, and the shopping district is literally around the corner, but at night it’s not crazy loud with drunk tourists stumbling around. The staff seemed genuinely Scottish – none of that forced friendliness you get sometimes – and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. My room was on the smaller side (this is the UK, after all), but it was clean and had everything I needed. The bed was actually pretty comfortable, though I could hear some street noise in the morning – nothing major, just the occasional delivery truck rumbling past around 7 AM.
What really won me over was how the place feels authentic to Glasgow. The common areas have this understated modern vibe without trying too hard to be trendy, and I noticed they had local art on the walls instead of those generic hotel paintings. The breakfast was decent – proper Scottish stuff alongside the usual continental options, and the coffee was better than I expected. Parking can be a bit of a pain around there (welcome to city center Glasgow), but there’s a car park just down the street if you’re driving. For the price point and that rating of 7.1, I’d say it’s pretty fair – you’re getting a solid, no-nonsense place to sleep in one of the best parts of the city. It’s not going to wow you with luxury, but if you want somewhere comfortable that doesn’t feel like corporate hospitality, and you’d rather spend your money exploring Glasgow than on fancy hotel amenities you won’t use anyway, this place makes a lot of sense.

Reviews of Artto Hotel
Very Good – Daniel from Canada – September 7, 2025 (8/10)
Very good location
What could be improved: The elevator was out of service the entire four days we were there.Fantastic location and friendly helpful staff – Joanne from United Kingdom – September 1, 2025 (8/10)
The location is brilliant, so handy for the train station. The 12pm check out is also great if you have been out partying the night before. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the bar area is lovely. I had been informed before my stay that there was a problem with the lift and requested a first floor room if possible which the staff allocated straight away.
What could be improved: It could do with air conditioning. The weather was very warm when we stayed so the room was very hot to try and sleep at night. The hotel had provided a fan/heater which was appreciated but unfortunately the fan on them don’t cool the place down very much.Overpriced. Only plus point was location. – Michael from United Kingdom – August 13, 2025 (6/10)

What could be improved: Dated.scruffy.Don't let the loud singing scare you! – Thérèse from Sweden – August 11, 2025 (7/10)
Location is great! The street seems to be the one with the most karaoke bars in Glasgow, but it got surprisingly quiet after midnight – we had no problem sleeping. The bed was comfortable. Kind staff.
What could be improved: Unfortunately the elevator was broke (which we were warned about). The whole building is a little old and worn down, some lights in our room weren't working, but it was all clean so it didn't really matter.Great Artto stay – Lee from United Kingdom – July 31, 2025 (8/10)
Friendly and helpful staff straight from the start from front of house to the cleaners
What could be improved: Only thing was the lift out of action but we had been pre warned with an email. Being 3nd floor it was not a problem for us.Very Good – June from United Kingdom – July 3, 2025 (8/10)
The hotel it's self is lovely staff were pleasant and helpful breakfast was continental and a good range of things ..situated by train station an local amenities ..we stayed through the week so pretty quite on the street not sure what would be like at weekend…rooms enough space an comfortable for what we needed bedding fresh an bathroom clean ..the bar nice an cozy an plenty to choice from
What could be improved: The bathroom an stair well could do with an up grade the lift was out of order which was disappointing when on the 3rd floor quite steap so for any older customers this wouldn't be greatGreat for an overnighter – Tanya from New Zealand – July 2, 2025 (7/10)
The location was handy for us Pretty central. Close to the train station and bus to the airport. Restaurants and shops all nearby.
What could be improved: The carpet was a bit grubby. Maybe a deep clean would be good. The lift wasn’t going at the time so lugging bags up the stairs wasn’t the best although one of the staff helped us out.Great place for the price – Tracey from United Kingdom – June 5, 2025 (8/10)
Great location
Very comfy bed
What could be improved: Needs some updating but nice little hotel overall so centralArtto and the Stop By – William from United States – May 24, 2025 (8/10)
It was very close to Glasgow Central Station, our rental car pick up location, and to some good pubs and restaurants.
What could be improved: The lift wasn’t working, but fortunately we were given a room on the first floor. There was occasional shaking of the building due to trains, buses, or lorries passing by.Very Good – Sonia from United Kingdom – May 18, 2025 (8/10)
Location brilliant. I have stayed here many times. Great value for the money. Staff so friendly and helpful.
