The train station’s close enough that you won’t be dragging your luggage for miles, and there’s something to be said for that after a long journey.

Here’s where this place really surprised me — the beds are genuinely comfortable. I know that sounds like basic hotel stuff, but you’d be amazed how many places get this wrong. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a three-star hotel, nothing fancy but clean and functional. There’s enough space to spread out a bit, and the windows actually open (always a plus in my book). They do a proper full English and Irish breakfast — none of that continental-only nonsense — plus they’ve got vegetarian and vegan options sorted, which is pretty thoughtful. It’s served buffet-style, so you can pile on as much or as little as you want. The quality’s decent too, not just the usual rubbery eggs and sad sausages you sometimes get. Starting your day with a proper breakfast before hitting the Glasgow streets makes a real difference, especially if you’re planning to walk around the city centre all day.
