Broomfield Cottage South Luss Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Broomfield Cottage South Luss, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The name sort of sounds like it could be anywhere in Scotland, you know? But once you actually get there and see this place nestled near the shores of Loch Lomond, it all makes perfect sense. The cottage has that authentic Scottish charm that you can’t fake – thick stone walls, those small windows that actually keep the place surprisingly cozy, and honestly, the kind of views that make you understand why people write poetry about the Highlands.
What really struck me about staying here was how quiet it gets in the evenings. I mean, Luss itself is pretty peaceful once the day-trippers head back to Glasgow (which is maybe an hour’s drive south), but this spot feels even more tucked away. You’re close enough to walk into the village – and you absolutely should, because the little church there is genuinely beautiful and the pier gives you those postcard-perfect loch views – but far enough that you’re not dealing with any tourist bustle. The cottage itself feels properly lived-in rather than sterile, if that makes sense. There’s character in the creaky floorboards and the way the morning light hits the kitchen table just right. Actually, the kitchen surprised me – it’s better equipped than I expected for a place that looks so traditional from the outside.
The location is honestly perfect if you’re planning to explore this part of Scotland properly. You’ve got some fantastic walking trails literally on your doorstep – the West Highland Way passes right through Luss, so you can join it for a few miles without committing to the full trek. And if you’re into the whole whisky thing, there are a couple of distilleries within reasonable driving distance that don’t get nearly as crowded as the famous ones. Parking isn’t an issue here either, which is more of a relief than you might think until you’ve tried finding a spot in some of the busier Highland villages. The cottage manages to feel both remote and accessible at the same time – close enough to civilization that you can grab supplies or a proper meal when you want, but isolated enough that you can actually hear the loch lapping at the shore on still nights. With a 9.1 rating from other guests, I’m clearly not the only one who thinks this place hits that sweet spot between authentic Highland experience and actual comfort.

Lovely cottage well located in Luss. Used it to attend a wedding at lodge on loch Lomond which was only a 5 min walk away. Cottage was well equipped and would definitely book again. The host communicated well in the lead up to the stay and key collection and check out was very easy.

We could walk everywhere from the Cottage. To have our own spacious off road parking space in Luss is a real bonus for off loading luggage etc. It is a very peaceful cottage – no road noise at all. We didn't cook in the property but it seemed to have everything you could possibly need. We would definitely stay here again.
