Campsie Glen Holiday Park Overview

You know what surprised me about Campsie Glen Holiday Park? It’s one of those places that actually lives up to its name – you’re literally staying right next to the glen, and honestly, the setting is pretty spectacular. I mean, when you wake up and step outside your accommodation, you’ve got the Campsie Fells rising up around you and this proper Scottish countryside feel, even though you’re only about 20 minutes from Glasgow city center. The whole area has this peaceful, almost mystical quality that makes you forget you’re so close to a major city.

The park itself sits in what I’d call a sweet spot – it’s got that holiday park vibe without feeling too commercialized or packed with screaming kids (though there are families around, don’t get me wrong). The accommodations range from static caravans to lodges, and while they’re not luxury by any means, they’re clean and comfortable enough. What really gets me is the location though – you can literally walk from your door into the glen within minutes. The waterfalls are gorgeous, especially after some rain, and there are proper hiking trails that wind up into the Campsies if you’re feeling energetic. I actually met quite a few people who use this as their base for exploring the Trossachs and Loch Lomond area, which makes total sense.

Practically speaking, the facilities are solid for a 3-star setup – the shower blocks are kept clean (always a concern with holiday parks), there’s decent parking right by your accommodation, and the staff seem to genuinely care about the place. The 8.5 rating feels about right to me. It’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities, but it delivers on what matters: a peaceful base in beautiful surroundings with easy access to both nature and the city. The nearby village of Lennoxtown has a decent pub and some basic shops if you need supplies. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets in the evenings – you can actually hear the burn flowing through the glen, which is something you definitely don’t get in most accommodations near major cities. If you’re looking for that proper Scottish countryside experience without completely cutting yourself off from civilization, this place hits the mark pretty well.

Reviews of Campsie Glen Holiday Park

  • Good – Rebecca from United Kingdom – August 29, 2025 (7/10)

Beautiful scenery, very quiet. Caravan was a home from home.

What could be improved: Unfortunately our caravan had dog hairs everywhere. And our oven didn't work.

  • Pleasant, cosy and great value. – Cara from United Kingdom – August 25, 2025 (8/10)

The caravan was great – clean and the location was good. The surrounding grounds were clean and well kept. The contact before we arrived was great and they accommodated our late check in.

What could be improved: The oven was a little dodgy. Would have been nice to have been able to grab milk and other essentials as the onsite shop closed fairly early and the nearest shop was a little way away.

  • Exceptional – Beverley from United Kingdom – August 19, 2025 (10/10)

Absolutely had best time best staff beautiful place will be back

  • Exceptional – Claire from United Kingdom – August 4, 2025 (10/10)

The site was amazing and waking up to the beautiful view every morning was breath taking

  • Comfortable and clean – Tracey from Ireland – July 29, 2025 (8/10)

Upon arrival we were delighted to discover that one of the bedrooms was en-suite and had internet access. Neither had been mentioned in the description. The hot tub was great. The bedding was very nice, even though the single beds were on the small side. The on site facilities looked good, although we never got the chance to use them. We had a small issue with one of the showers being too hot, but as soon as it was mentioned to a member of the maintenance staff it was fixed within a few minutes. A dishwasher was mentioned in the description but there wasn’t one in the caravan we had. There were enough plates, cups etc for 5 people and enough pots and a pan to make breakfast. This was our first time staying in a caravan but we would definitely stay in one again.

What could be improved: Could have done with small bins in the bathrooms. I’ve seen other people mention being left a welcome pack with tea bags, coffee & milk etc, all we were given was a tea towel wrapped around a small washing up sponge, a tiny bottle of washing up liquid and a bin bag. There were also one teabag and 3 sachets of coffee. There isn’t much in the local area and it can be tough to find somewhere to get dinner. The Cross Keys in Kippen does amazing food but avoid Olivia’s takeaway in Lennoxtown, it’s expensive and the food is awful.

  • Wonderful – Ahmad from United Kingdom – July 13, 2025 (9/10)

  • Exceptional – Julie from United Kingdom – June 30, 2025 (10/10)

Very clean, lovely staff at reception. Toilets and showet block close and clean. Swimming pool lovely nice temperature, unfortunately hot tub out of order on the day.

What could be improved: Limited opening hours in tje bar and resturant

  • Exceptional – Toye from United Kingdom – June 28, 2025 (10/10)

    Excellent facilites

What could be improved: Nothing to dislike

  • Lovely site – Rachael from United Kingdom – June 25, 2025 (8/10)

Location of the campsite is lovely, the glamping pod was clean when we arrived and there was a sweeping brush in the pod to help us stay on top of the grass that we brought in on our shoes. On site swimming pool was also kept clean. Toilet block on the campsite was clean and checked regularly so stayed that way. The showers in there were a nice size so clothes don't get wet while showering!
The food served on site was lovely and had gluten free options too.
The staff on the reception and in the bar were friendly pleasant and always smiling.

What could be improved: The toilets and shower cubicle that are at the back of the bar were not as good, those showers only come on for a short burst and not temperature controlled so if you want a proper shower, use the ones in the centre of the site. The pod was very warm so perhaps include a fan in there on hot days/weekends.

There was no direction in relation to any places open for breakfast, we found the sports club just outside lennoxtown did a lovely breakfast and catered for gluten free as well, but I feel the 2 businesses could work well together if they advertised places available for breakfast.

I would also recommend moving the kettle as we did, to use it. It's on a shelf with the toaster, but the shelf doesn't pull out, so it is damaging the underneath of the shelf above and the coating off the shelf had dropped into the kettle. We cleaned the kettle before using it. Maybe swapping the microwave to the second shelf and putting toaster and kettle on the top would solve this?

The only other downside, and this is not down to the campsite, was in the bar/dining area. There was an incident between 2 of the guests, all bar staff found themselves involved in the incident which meant no one was serving/ clearing tables or taking food orders as promptly as they had the night before. The bar staff and manager were extremely apologetic about the situation and said it didn't happen often, which I do believe because of how that was managed.

This did not put us off and we would definitely stay again.

  • Exceptional – John from United Kingdom – June 24, 2025 (10/10)

Lovely holiday park caravan was very good and comfortable with two toilets very pleased with how large the caravan was

What could be improved: Club house was only open on certain days food was limited to choice of meals not much selection and only stays open till 9pm
