Campsie View Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Campsie View? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – you really can see the Campsie Fells rolling across the horizon from certain windows, which is honestly something I didn’t expect from what’s essentially a suburban spot in Bargeddie. I mean, Glasgow proper feels like it’s miles away (though it’s really just a quick drive), and there’s this unexpectedly peaceful vibe here that grows on you.
The place doesn’t bother with official star ratings, and honestly, that kind of sums up the whole approach – it’s doing its own thing without trying to fit into some standardized box. The building itself has this quirky character that you either love or find a bit odd; I landed somewhere in between, but leaning toward charmed. The rooms are genuinely unique from each other, which means you might get lucky with a spacious setup or end up in something more… cozy. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward though – no corporate nonsense, just real people who actually seem to know the area. They pointed me toward a decent pub within walking distance that I never would’ve found otherwise.
What really works here is the location if you’re looking to explore beyond central Glasgow. You’re positioned perfectly for day trips to Loch Lomond or even further into the Highlands, but you can still catch a train into the city center when you want proper restaurants or nightlife. The neighborhood itself is residential and quiet – sometimes almost too quiet if you’re used to city buzz, but the parking situation is actually manageable (rare praise from me). I noticed the place fills up with a mix of business travelers and families doing the Scotland road trip thing, which creates this interesting dynamic where it’s not purely touristy but not sterile either. The breakfast room gets lively in the mornings with people comparing notes about their Highland adventures or complaining about Scottish weather – you know, the usual. Look, it’s not going to blow you away with luxury, but there’s something genuinely pleasant about a place that knows what it is and doesn’t pretend to be something else.

Reviews of Campsie View
It was good, the bedrooms and living rooms were all comfortable but some areas were dirty with hair. – Banaz from United Kingdom – August 16, 2024 (6/10)
We liked the living room and kitchen. We also liked the bedrooms and the bathroom was alright. The water was very clean.
What could be improved: All our clothes got dirty because of either carpet hair or dog hair, I’m not sure which. Especially all our black clothes.Exceptional – Naomi from United Kingdom – October 6, 2024 (10/10)
it's like home from home, everything you could need
What could be improved: the sofa bed, wasn't comfortable plus took a while to figure out how to turn it into a bed.Lovey comfortable home – Paul from United Kingdom – June 28, 2024 (10/10)
Very comfortable beds
Quiet surroundings
What could be improved: Lack of WiFi and phone signalWas fobbed off by the owners regarding internet. Tried to tell me it was the area which was incorrect info also the hea – Connie from United Kingdom – August 3, 2024 (1/10)
It was clean
What could be improved: It’s right next to a busy dual carriage way and noisy, garden was not maintained. There was no internet nor heating so the place was freezing coldDefinitely wouldn’t stay again. – Jade from United Kingdom – September 8, 2024 (4/10)
Quite neighbourhood, place looks aesthetically pleasing at first glance however you slowly see the cracks. Responsive host.
What could be improved: So many complaints, we travelled from Liverpool and after seeing the photos online we were very excited to arrive. I had quite possibly the worst 2 nights sleep I’ve ever had in my life! The floor boards and beds are EXTREMELY loud, every single time someone made the slightest movement in the in the night it banged and echoed, it’s unbearable! There’s also no TV’s in the bedrooms, something I didn’t realise before booking. This probably would have blocked out the sound of the people in the other room abit more.
The walls are filthy, oil marks everywhere, a big gap on the stairs, kitchen is freezing there’s no radiator in there.
There’s also a huge back garden with loads of potential however it’s been neglected and both front & back of the house need some attention, no outdoor seating area. All the windows are also filthy. There was no general supplies such as toilet rolls etc. £90 cleaning fee is extortionate, there is no way they pay this for cleaners!
One of the single beds bedding had marks all over as if the sheets hadn’t been changed. Both sofas extremely uncomfortable, there’s no way someone could sleep on the sofa ‘bed’ . The back door is also quite hard to open and the blinds in the living room we couldn’t shut once opened? . I actually was happy to overlook all the other problems however how squeaky and loud the room is next door is ridiculous, I’ve managed to get around 5 hours sleep in 3 days! I’ve never been more excited to leave somewhere in my life! Would not ever stay here again.ILLEGAL – DO NOT STAY HERE. – Sarah from United Kingdom – August 15, 2024 (1/10)
Location
What could be improved: THIS PROPERTY IS ILLEGALLY LET – Police have been informed and it is now registered as a crime.
THERE IS NO LEGAL LICENCE TO RENT THIS PROPERTY OUT AS REQUIRED BY SCOTTISH LAW.
Windows blocked by blinds – fire risk.
Back door lock extremely difficult to open – fire risk.
Bathroom door doesn’t shut and doesn’t have a lock on.
Garden extremely overgrown.
Bathroom dirty.
No mattress protector.
Missing kitchen equipment.
The list goes on but when Flyt were notified they
refused to do anything about the fire escape risks.
Extremely rude staff that do not resolve issues within the advertised 2hrs in their documents. It took a week of emails and messages to get a gardener to sort the garden and a further week for someone to look at the roller blinds, sorting one but not the other.
I was even told that they did not appreciate me notifying Booking.com of the issues we were having during our stay!
THE HOUSE IS ILLEGALLY LET WITH NO LICENCE HELD WITH THE LOCAL AUTHORITY.
The local neighbours haven’t seen anyone maintain the house properly since it was let out several months ago.
Flyt refuse to provide any compensation for the hassle of the issues registered with them during our stay even before we found that it was illegally let.Confortable, pero mejorable. – Maria from Spain – August 18, 2024 (5/10)
