So I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Cardonald Central on Moulin Terrace, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. It’s tucked away in this residential area south of the city center, and you know what? That actually turned out to be one of its biggest selling points. The whole street has this quiet, lived-in feel that’s pretty refreshing after dealing with the usual tourist chaos downtown.

The place itself is solid 3-star territory – nothing flashy, but everything works the way it should. Check-in was straightforward (the staff actually seemed to know what they were doing), and I was pleasantly surprised by how clean everything felt. My room had that fresh-but-not-overly-perfumed smell that tells you housekeeping takes their job seriously. The beds are decent – firm enough that you won’t wake up with a crick in your neck, soft enough that you’ll actually sleep. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Being in a residential area means you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM, which is honestly worth its weight in gold if you’re trying to get proper rest.

Here’s the thing about staying in Cardonald – you’re getting a real slice of how people actually live in Glasgow, not just the postcard version. There’s a proper local pub just down the road where you can grab a pint with folks who’ve lived here their whole lives, and the morning walk to catch public transport into the city center gives you this nice preview of regular Scottish neighborhood life. The bus connections are actually pretty good once you figure out the routes (takes about 20 minutes to get into town), and parking isn’t the nightmare it would be closer to the center. I mean, if you’re the type who needs to be stumbling distance from George Square, this probably isn’t your spot – but if you want somewhere genuine to decompress after a day of sightseeing, it hits the mark. The 7.5 rating feels about right to me; it’s the kind of place that does what it promises without any fancy bells and whistles, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  The beds were comfortable. The sitting room was comfortable and with its and the kitchen windows open there was a pleasant cross breeze. The kitchen was adequate. The refrigerator kept our food cold. The downstairs neighbor was very friendly. The neighborhood was nice and very quiet. Host and building management were friendly but not able to resolve any issues.
  
  What could be improved: The flat is not well maintained. The bathroom sink faucet had a constant slow leak and water pooled on the counter top until it ran off onto the floor. The problem has been there for a long time as the counter top was swollen and delaminating. We had an issue with the entry door lock. You could unlock it from the exterior but not the interior. The interior latch to unbolt the door would not turn after the door was closed and we got locked in. We called the host and they didn't have a good answer for getting us out of the flat. We ended up prying on the exposed bolt to get the door open and let the host know we had managed to free ourselves. A person from building management came the next day and we demonstrated the issue, We left the door unlocked while we were in the flat for the rest of our stay. The throw pillows in the room with two beds were soiled and we set them aside. There were 3 lamps in the same room, but only one had a cord long enough to reach a socket. They look nice in the photos but are non-functional. In one of the rooms with a double bed, the closet handle was missing with the bar it turned sticking out. The window would not open. There was no information about wifi posted, but if you can find the QR code on the back of the cable box that will connect you to wifi. The downstairs neighbor had parked his truck in the on premises parking, but moved it when he saw us looking at it after we arrived.

  The location was good.
  The rooms were good sizes.
  Towels were provided.

  What could be improved: The bins outside needed emptied. The smell was awful when you went outside.
  The people above us were very noisy and kept us awake throughout the night.
  One of the double beds were 2 singles put together and very uncomfortable.
  The oven was dangerous as the internal glass is missing and it became very warm. This is a hazard.
  The shower door has no rubber seal and the floor became very wet in the bathroom.
  Needs to be more cleaning products if it has to be kept cleaner.
  This was not the apartment we booked as there was an issue with the other apartment.

  Geen stop voor de afwasbak, lastig afwassen dus.

  Te weinig stoelen aan de eettafe voor 5 gastenl. 3 stoelen voorzien. 2 klapstoelen in de kast, waarvan 1 bruikbaar, de andere was doorgezakt. Gelukkig nog een bureaustoel.
  Ook geen stop voor het bad, douche redelijk de regendouche hangt nogal wankel
  De 2 dubbele bedden in de voorste slaapkamer dun matras met voelbare veren.
