I’ll be honest, Cardonald House caught me off guard in the best possible way. When you first pull up, it’s got this understated charm that doesn’t scream “look at me” – which I actually appreciated after staying at some overly flashy places that promise the world and deliver lukewarm coffee and attitude.

The thing about this place is that it feels like someone actually cares about the details without being fussy about it. You know what I mean? Like, the lobby has this lived-in elegance that makes you want to settle into one of their chairs with a book rather than just rush through to your room. The staff – well, they’re the kind of people who remember your name by day two and actually seem to enjoy their jobs, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re trying to figure out the best route to avoid traffic or where to grab decent fish and chips nearby. I mean, that 7.1 rating might not sound spectacular on paper, but sometimes those mid-range scores come from places that are just refreshingly honest about what they are.

The rooms themselves are what I’d call “properly comfortable” – not trying to be a luxury suite, but everything works like it should, the beds are actually decent (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re playing Tetris with your luggage. The heating works properly too, which you’d think would be a given but I’ve learned not to take for granted. What really won me over, though, was how quiet it gets at night. You can actually sleep without earplugs, even if you’re one of those people who wakes up when someone drops a pin three rooms down. The breakfast situation is solid – nothing Instagram-worthy, but the kind of proper meal that actually sets you up for a day of exploring rather than leaving you hunting for real food an hour later. Parking was straightforward too, which saved me the usual city hotel headache of circling blocks looking for a spot or paying through the nose for valet service. Look, it’s a three-star place that knows exactly what it is and does it well, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you want comfort without the pretense.

  Location was excellent for the concert venue we were attending in Glasgow Bellahouston Park. There was parking on a drive for the property and plenty of on street parking available too. Local residents were friendly, as we took our dog with us and did a few walks around the area.
  Property had lots of facilities and the beds were really comfortable. New carpet throughout as well.
  Pet friendly. Even had visiting squirrels and birds in the back patio due to above flat having a bird feeder fitted to a window. It was lovely watching the squirrels and birds over breakfast.

  Very clean & comfortable inside with good spacious bedrooms , note this property is actually a downstairs flat but that wasn't an issue for us and we enjoyed our stay.

  This is a spacious house with capacity for up to 5 adults, with a generous double, twin and single room. Everything works. It's heated well. They clean it well and provide basic toiletries.
