Carnarvon Street City Centre Apartment Overview

Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first pulled up to Carnarvon Street City Centre Apartment, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from a 3-star place tucked into the West End. But you know what? Sometimes these unassuming spots surprise you in the best way. The building itself is pretty typical Glasgow tenement style, which means those lovely high ceilings and big windows that actually let in decent light (not always a given in Glasgow, if you know what I mean). Finding flat 2/2 was straightforward enough – though I’d recommend double-checking the buzzer situation when you arrive, as these older buildings can be a bit quirky with their entry systems.

What really struck me about this place was how it sits right in that sweet spot between being central and actually liveable. Carnarvon Street isn’t one of those mad busy thoroughfares where you’re dealing with constant traffic noise, but you’re still within proper walking distance of Sauchiehall Street and all that chaos when you want it. I mean, you can literally stroll to the city centre in about fifteen minutes – less if you’re one of those power walkers. The Kelvingrove area is right there too, which honestly makes all the difference if you’re planning to explore beyond just the shopping districts. There’s something really satisfying about being able to pop back to your place between wandering around the museum and heading out for dinner, rather than being stuck in some hotel room miles from everything interesting.

The apartment itself has that lived-in feeling that’s way better than sterile hotel furniture – actual personality, you know? Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the 6.1 rating tells you it’s not perfect (I suspect some guests might grumble about things like water pressure or the occasional creaky floorboard), but there’s genuine character here. The kitchen setup is actually useful if you want to grab groceries from the Tesco down the road instead of eating out every meal – which, let’s face it, gets expensive fast in the city centre. What I really appreciated was having proper space to spread out after long days of walking around. These Glasgow streets can be tough on your feet, especially if you’re doing the full tourist circuit, and having somewhere that feels more like a temporary home base than a generic room makes such a difference to how you experience the city. Plus, staying in the West End gives you that insider feeling – you’re where actual Glaswegians live and work, not just where they expect tourists to stay.

Hotel in Glasgow booking should be done early, especially during summer festival season when the city hosts internationally celebrated performances at iconic venues like the SSE Hydro.

Reviews of Carnarvon Street City Centre Apartment

  • Good – Sushil from United Kingdom – June 10, 2025 (7/10)

    Spacious

What could be improved: It was hard to arrange for check in.

  • Glasgow apartment – Martin from United Kingdom – September 2, 2025 (7/10)

    The property was ok.
There was a shop and takeaways down the road
    The owner was very helpful
    It was quite

What could be improved: Had to drive to the centre of Glasgow to get the key for the property
Got to property there was on street parking but it cost me £14 for 3 hours and I found out off of the owner afterwards the hotel where I got the key from should have offered me parking passes at £2 each so back into Glasgow.
There were some stains on the walls and the front door was leaking oil or dirty water

  • Nice for short stay – Anisha from United Kingdom – August 30, 2025 (10/10)

Was a nice short stay. The manager was helpful and if anything was wrong they immediately responded and fixed it for us

What could be improved: Everything was cool

  • perfect stay – Kieron from United Kingdom – January 1, 2023 (10/10)

staff were nice and informational and very polite

  • Exceptional – Cristina from United Kingdom – November 26, 2022 (10/10)

    very good condition

  • Surprisingly good, wasn't disappointed. – Mohammed from United Kingdom – April 14, 2025 (8/10)

Nice location with plenty of nearby amenities (including halal food). Around 20 minutes walk to Buchanan street and George square. Good value for money.

What could be improved: you need to collect and return the keys from somewhere 15 minutes away on foot (might not be an issue if you have your own car). Also no free parking but you can get vouchers (6£ a day) from where you collect the keys.

  • Very Good – Agita from Latvia – September 18, 2022 (8/10)

    The apartment is quite spacious

What could be improved: There was an old food in kitchen drawer.
Maybe the price was to high because of Coldplay concert in Glasgow, so maybe in other times the apartment corresponds to value.

  • Disappointing, soulless boring apartment in good neighborhood – Elizabeth from Netherlands – May 24, 2024 (4/10)

This is a difficult review. We had two apartments cancelled for structural problems and we were offered this apartment because it was near where we wanted to be. The apartment is large with two bedrooms and three double beds, the beds were good although not wide. The internet was good. Large kitchen and living area. The neighbourhood is Woodland, a nice residential area of Glasgow near the subway and only a half hour's walk to the center or through the park to the university.

What could be improved: Everything. Soulless. The apartment is managed by a hotel on the other side of the park, and key pickup is there. If you were walking it would be very long. Driving, the streets between the hotel and apartment are confusing one way restricted. Subway useless between the two points. Keys were difficult to use, both at front door and apartment door. Everything in the apartment feels like it was left over when someone moved out. Creaky chairs, doors blocked by beds, kitchen unevenly stocked. Knifes but no forks?? Brillo pads for washing pots but no sponge/brush to clean glasses. Washing machine and dryer but no soap or instructions. No coffee or tea (half bottle malt vinegar was the extant of food). Toilet seat was barely attached. Balconies are French balconies, meaning you can open the door, but not step out. Large television but no extra streaming. Back door on ground floor found open several times. Rating on site is suspect, 10 rating has name of person on the front door! Hotel insisted on 100 pound breakage deposit and then took more than a week to refund. We were visiting family nearby otherwise this would have ruined our vacation.

  • SHOCKING!!! – Wayne from United Kingdom – August 29, 2023 (1/10)

    Nothing

What could be improved: The flat was extremely dirty, the locks on the doors to get in are very temperamental there was next to no cutlery and the pans for cooking i would not use for my dog. The cupboards were totally filthy i cannot believe anyone would think this property is to an acceptable standard to rent out. As a director of a demolition company i have stripped out cleaner properties.

  • Will never stay here again – Muir from United Kingdom – August 15, 2023 (1/10)

Nothing was really enjoyable about this stay.

What could be improved: Floor boards damaged and when you walk on them in the kitchen it sinks in, Damages all over the property, Missing glass panels on the lamp shade, cob webs hanging from the ceiling, something dripping from the front door like oil, curtain pole held together by duct tape. Just not worth the £400 and odd.
