You know what caught me off guard about City Centre – 2 Bed Apartment? I was expecting some cookie-cutter serviced apartment situation, but this place actually has character. It’s tucked right on York Street, which honestly couldn’t be more central if you tried – I mean, you’re basically in the heart of Glasgow‘s commercial district, but somehow it doesn’t feel like you’re sleeping above a shopping mall.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than some sterile hotel room. The two bedrooms are properly sized (none of that “European double bed that’s actually a single” nonsense), and the living area has this lived-in quality that makes you want to actually hang out there instead of just dumping your bags and running. What I really appreciated was the kitchen setup – it’s got everything you’d actually need if you want to grab groceries from the Tesco Express around the corner rather than eating out every meal. The whole place has this boutique hotel vibe without the boutique hotel pretension, if that makes sense.

Location-wise, you’re spoiled for choice here. Queen Street station is literally a five-minute walk, which saved my life when I had an early train to Edinburgh. Buchanan Street’s shopping is right there, but more importantly for me, some of Glasgow’s best pubs are within stumbling distance – The Horseshoe Bar is practically next door, and that’s not an accident I’d waste if I were you. The noise level surprised me too; York Street gets busy during the day obviously, but it actually quiets down pretty well at night. I was bracing for city center chaos, but I slept fine with the windows cracked open. Parking‘s a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving – there’s paid street parking, but honestly, you probably won’t need a car from this spot anyway. The whole Merchant City area spreads out from here, so you can walk to the cathedral, hit the galleries on Ingram Street, or wander down to the river without breaking a sweat. It’s one of those places where you end up discovering little corners of Glasgow just because everything’s so walkable.

  What could be improved: A little expensive for room only . Sink in kitchen leaks. Gas cooker needs matches or lighter to ignite, non provided.
