Check-in was smooth (always a good sign), and the staff seemed to actually know the area when I asked about dinner recommendations – they pointed me toward Merchant City rather than just rattling off the usual tourist traps. The rooms are what you’d expect from a well-run hotel, nothing fancy but genuinely comfortable beds and proper blackout curtains that actually work. I’m someone who notices these things because I’m a light sleeper, and I slept like a rock here. The Wi-Fi was solid too, which matters when you’re trying to sort out your next day’s plans.

What I really appreciated was how they handle the little things – housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive, and there’s something to be said for a hotel where the elevators don’t take forever and the shower pressure doesn’t disappoint you first thing in the morning. The location means you’ll hear some street noise if you’re facing the main road, but it’s Glasgow city center, not a countryside retreat, so that comes with the territory. Actually, I found the gentle hum of the city quite nice – made me feel like I was really experiencing the place rather than hiding from it. They’ve got an 8.8 rating for a reason, and after staying there, I get it. It’s one of those hotels that doesn’t try to be flashy but just does everything right, which honestly is exactly what you want when you’re exploring a city like Glasgow and need a reliable base to come back to.
