Cosy Flat Overview
You know what struck me first about Cosy Flat? The name is actually pretty spot-on – this place really does feel more like staying at a friend’s stylish apartment than a typical hotel. Tucked away on Esmond Street in the Finnieston area, it’s one of those unique boutique spots that doesn’t bother with star ratings because, honestly, they don’t really fit into the usual hotel categories anyway.
The location is brilliant if you know Glasgow at all. You’re basically in the heart of what locals call the “cultural quarter” – I mean, you can walk to the SEC Armadillo and the Hydro in about ten minutes, and the whole Finnieston strip with its trendy restaurants and bars is right on your doorstep. What I really appreciated though was how quiet Esmond Street itself is, especially at night. You get all the benefits of being central without the noise that comes with staying right on Argyle Street or Sauchiehall Street. The building itself has that classic Glasgow sandstone look, but inside it’s been done up with a really thoughtful, modern touch – think exposed brick mixed with contemporary furnishings that actually look like someone lives there, not like they were ordered from a hotel catalog.
I’ll be honest, the whole experience feels refreshingly unpretentious. The owners clearly put thought into the little things that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere – decent water pressure, blackout curtains that work properly, and a kitchen setup that’s genuinely functional if you want to grab groceries from the Tesco Metro down the street. The 8.2 rating makes perfect sense because while it’s not flashy or over-the-top, everything just… works. And works well. Parking can be a bit tricky (it’s Glasgow city center, after all), but there’s usually street parking available if you’re patient, or there’s a car park a couple of blocks away. What really sold me on the place was the attention to local character – they’ve managed to create something that feels distinctly Glasgow without falling into tourist trap territory. You’re close enough to walk to the West End when you want that university area vibe, but you’re also perfectly positioned for exploring the Merchant City or even just wandering along the Clyde. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because it actually feels like home, not like you’re camping out in a generic hotel room.

Very spacious, great location, quiet area
Bed was comfortable & was clean – Mairi from United Kingdom – May 29, 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: It would have been nice if we’d been left some basic facilities like a small basket with tea , coffee & milk as we didn’t arrive till late evening . In the morning we didn’t even have a clue to where the nearest shop was . Also although we didn’t use all the toilet roll I think two rolls of toilet roll for a four night stay was a bit stingy .
Wonderful – Ivan from Brazil – March 6, 2025 (9/10)
The apartment was very comfortable and well localized.
What could be improved: Wi-fi was not good.Wonderful – Natasa from Greece – December 27, 2024 (9/10)
Flat recently refurbished, clean and near the university. Plenty of space for 2 people with bedroom, sitting room and full kitchen. Quiet neighborhood. One person that I met who lives in the same building was really friendly and nice.
Very Good – Ryan from United Kingdom – December 22, 2024 (8/10)

Good – Lovisa from Sweden – August 31, 2025 (7/10)
I liked the flat. Clean and tidy.
What could be improved: The sheets in the bed were of thick sythetic material and there was a strong sense of perfume which is difficult if you are allergic. Luckily I found other sheets to change with.Good, but can be improved with more equipment – Emmanuelle from France – July 2, 2025 (7/10)
It’s a very good location.
What could be improved: They were only one chair, so if you come in couple, it’s tricky to eat.
There is a washing machine, but nothing to dry the clothes. There is no boiler for water or napkins to dry the dishes.
The wifi and the TV wasn’t working when I arrived.
I contacted the landowner, who came to solve the problem.A bright, warm and convenient place for a couple and a dog who like exploring. – Janet from United Kingdom – April 25, 2025 (7/10)
Good location near the park and river, and spacious and clean and functioning furnishings and main fixtures (fridge, cooker, shower, etc). Quiet neighbourhood. Host was quick to sort the problems left by previous renters on the day of our arrival. Nearby supermarket and nice mix of restaurants and take-aways, as well as close to a main bus route into town centre. Very close to the Kelvingrove museum/gallery and University buildings.
What could be improved: Very few kitchen utensils – non-stick cooking spoons for the non-stick pans, corkscrew, tin opener, knives for preparing food, tea pot and tea towel were all missing. Shower drain seems in need of deblocking – it was slow to clear after use. Nighttime noise from pipes elsewhere in the building – fast knocking, and sounds of gushing water, woke us on a few occasions. The flat lacked a dining table with chairs so we either had to eat standing up or sit on the sofas in the living area – there was just one chair at the breakfast bar. The room was easily big enough to have had a small table and 2 chairs, or a second chair at the bar. We found it stressful that the host didn't send us the key code in advance of arrival – makes you worry that you won't be able to get it in time so could be left stranded outside the property, on arrival. Some information on how to recycle items would be helpful. A few notes left for guests would be appreciated, e.g. advice on wifi, on parking options (parking in Glasgow is always a challenge!), on the nearest buses into town etc. and on how to leave the flat on your last day (what to do with sheets, rubbish etc.) – they just help to make you feel looked after. Nevertheless it was otherwise fine and we would probably stay again if dates and prices still work for us.
