The lobby has this sleek, contemporary vibe that feels more like a boutique hotel than anything corporate, with dark wood and modern furnishings that somehow manage to feel both sophisticated and welcoming at the same time.

Location & Getting Around

You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You can walk to pretty much everything Glasgow has to offer. Buchanan Street’s shopping is just around the corner, and if you’re into the arts scene, the Theatre Royal and Concert Hall are practically on your doorstep. The restaurant quarter on Merchant City is an easy stroll, and when you need to venture further out, Queen Street Station is close enough that you won’t be dragging your luggage for miles. Couples especially seem to love this spot — and I can see why, since there’s something romantic about being able to wander through Glasgow’s Victorian architecture without worrying about transport.

The Rooms

Here’s where Dakota Glasgow really shines — the beds are genuinely exceptional. I’m usually pretty skeptical when hotels boast about their mattresses, but this place actually delivers on that promise. The rooms themselves strike this nice balance between modern comfort and understated style, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light (well, as much as Glasgow weather allows). The bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into everything, and there’s proper storage space, which is more rare than it should be in city centre hotels.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast setup here covers all the bases — you’ve got your continental options if you’re the grab-and-go type, but the full English breakfast is where they really show off. It’s done properly, with quality ingredients that actually taste like they’re meant to. The dining room has these large windows overlooking the street, so you can people-watch while you eat, which I find oddly entertaining in Glasgow since there’s always something interesting happening outside.

There’s something to be said for a hotel that keeps bringing people back, and Dakota Glasgow clearly has that figured out — they’ve got more repeat guests than most places I’ve stayed. The fact that it consistently scores so highly with guests isn’t really surprising once you’ve experienced it yourself — it’s one of those places that manages to feel both polished and genuine, which is honestly harder to pull off than you’d think.

Hotel in Glasgow booking should be done early, especially during summer festival season when the city hosts internationally celebrated performances at iconic venues like the SSE Hydro.
