Dunalastair Apartment Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Dunalastair Apartment on a quiet residential street in Glasgow‘s east end, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The address had me wondering if I’d booked some random person’s flat by mistake, but that’s actually part of what makes this place so refreshingly different from your typical hotel experience.

What you get here is essentially a beautifully appointed apartment that feels like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place – if that friend happens to have impeccable taste and actually knows how to stock a kitchen properly. The location in Robroyston might not sound glamorous (honestly, most tourists have never heard of it), but you’re only about 15 minutes from the city center by car, and there’s something really appealing about experiencing Glasgow from a proper neighborhood perspective rather than being stuck in some generic hotel district downtown. The parking situation is refreshingly stress-free too, which anyone who’s tried to navigate central Glasgow will appreciate. You know what really impressed me? The attention to detail feels genuine rather than corporate – like someone actually thought about what travelers need. The WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, there are proper blackout curtains that actually block light, and the shower has decent water pressure. These might sound like basic things, but you’d be surprised how many places get them wrong.

The whole setup works particularly well if you’re planning to stay more than just a night or two – having a proper fridge and cooking facilities means you can grab groceries from the nearby shops and not feel obligated to eat out every single meal. I mean, Glasgow has fantastic restaurants, but sometimes you just want to make coffee the way you like it or have a quiet breakfast without getting dressed and venturing out. The neighborhood itself is quite pleasant for morning walks, and you’ll see more of how actual Glaswegians live rather than the sanitized tourist version of the city. The 8.3 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be a five-star luxury experience, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. The whole thing feels more like a home base for exploring Glasgow than a traditional hotel stay, which honestly suits the city’s down-to-earth character perfectly.

Hotel in Glasgow booking should be done early, especially during summer festival season when the city hosts internationally celebrated performances at iconic venues like the SSE Hydro.

Lovely clean apartment with good WiFi.
Everything you could need was there.
    Plenty of parking.
Was a short drive to Glasgow which we needed but there’s a train station right there if you didn’t want to drive.

  • An enjoyable week – Gerald from United Kingdom – June 4, 2025 (10/10)

Clean . Quiet location . Shops and railway station handy

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Important facility details lacking – Gary from Ireland – September 24, 2023 (6/10)

Location was nice and quiet. Short walk to the Robroyston Scotrail station. Close to small (Coop) and very largs (Asda) grocery stores. Affordable taxi fare back from city centre restaurants (£11 approximately).

What could be improved: WiFi not working: details for BT service provided however the BT equipment is disconnected and in behind the sofa. EE equipment under TV but login details do not work. TV not working: no HDMI cable so no access to the TV Apps. I could not find any terrestrial stations. Bathroom had just a third of a roll of toilet paper which is not adequate for a group of four arriving in the evening after a long day of travel. No ice tray. Details for accessing the entrance key are incorrect: the pin on the booking information does not give access (eventually another number did). Blind in the kitchen broken and off the wall so no privacy in that area. Damp smell.

  • At best this was an OK experience. – Nicola from United Kingdom – June 30, 2025 (5/10)

    Off street parking
    Quiet

What could be improved: Strong unpleasant smell on arrival
No mattress protector on bed which meant that the bobbles on the mattress were uncomfortable.
Uncomfortable sofas, one was heavily stained.
Very, very low water pressure in bathroom, shower not great!
Overall clean but could do with a deep clean in bathroom, corners etc

  • Pleasant – Khaled from United Kingdom – July 23, 2025 (6/10)

    Mostly good

What could be improved: The cleaning is OK but place requires deep cleaning. Bed are not comfortable

  • 很舒服!适合家庭出游 – Zhonghui from United Kingdom – April 13, 2025 (9/10)

    干净!设备齐全!

  • Disappointing – Marlene from Switzerland – July 18, 2024 (4/10)

Grösse war ok. Im Grundsatz alles vorhanden.

What could be improved: Das Geschirr war nicht sauber! Heisswasserhahn ist lose. Duschen fast nicht möglich, zu wenig Druck u. Wasser. Wohnzimmer nicht ganz sauber. Wasserhahn zu klein im Bad, kein Platz zum Hände waschen.
