Edenmill Farm Overview

First Impressions

You know what hits you first about Edenmill Farm? It’s not actually in Glasgow proper — you’re driving up Stockiemuir Road into what feels like proper Scottish countryside, yet you’re still close enough to the city that it doesn’t feel like you’ve fled civilization entirely. This four-star spot sits in that sweet spot where you get rolling hills and fresh air, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere. The building itself has that authentic farmhouse charm without being overly rustic — I mean, you still get all the modern comforts you’d expect from an upscale property.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s the thing about the location — couples absolutely love it here, and honestly, I can see why. There’s something romantic about being tucked away in the countryside while still having Glasgow within reach. The free private parking is a godsend because let’s face it, parking in Glasgow city center can be a nightmare and expensive to boot. You’re positioned perfectly for exploring the Trossachs if you’re into hiking, but you can also easily pop into the city for dinner or shopping. It’s that rare spot where you feel like you’re on a proper getaway without the hassle of being completely isolated.

The Rooms

The accommodations strike that perfect balance between country comfort and contemporary style. You’ll find rooms that feel spacious and well-appointed — not cramped like some city hotels where you can barely open your suitcase. The views are genuinely lovely, looking out over the surrounding farmland, and there’s something quite peaceful about waking up to that instead of traffic noise. The beds are properly comfortable (which matters more than people think), and the bathrooms are modern without feeling sterile.

Breakfast Experience

Now this is where Edenmill Farm really shines — the breakfast situation is honestly impressive. They’ve got the full English and Irish options sorted, but what I really appreciate is how they handle dietary requirements. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free — they actually know what they’re doing rather than just offering sad substitutes. If you’re rushing off early for a day of exploring, they’ll even pack you a breakfast to go, which is thoughtful. The quality is what you’d expect from a place that takes its food seriously, using local ingredients where possible.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.6 rating tells the story pretty well, but it’s the little things that make Edenmill Farm work so well. You get that countryside escape feeling without sacrificing convenience — the parking alone saves you money and stress. The staff seem to genuinely care about making your stay comfortable rather than just going through the motions. It’s particularly brilliant for couples looking for a romantic base that’s not too remote, but families would be happy here too. The breakfast flexibility means you can actually fuel up properly for whatever adventure you’ve got planned, whether that’s tackling Ben Lomond or wandering through Glasgow’s West End.

Reviews of Edenmill Farm

  • Wonderful – Murray from New Zealand – August 25, 2025 (9/10)

We appreciated the friendly, welcoming, and helpful staff.

  • Welcoming and friendly place to stay in a countryside location. – Jo from United Kingdom – August 24, 2025 (9/10)

Quiet and peaceful countryside location with lovely walks nearby.
    Shared kitchen was well equipped.
Good en-suite and showers were excellent.
Cafe downstairs was excellent and good food and coffee.
Staff were lovely and very friendly.

What could be improved: Bedrooms were small with limited storage or places to hang clothes if damp.

  • Exceptional – Sami from United Kingdom – August 14, 2025 (10/10)

Friendly and welcoming! Room was very comfortable and the shower was amazing! Not the hottest shower but still was a good first stop prior to our road trip.

  • Lovely comfortable and peaceful – Karen from United Kingdom – August 12, 2025 (9/10)

Very clean, comfortable and quiet, staff were very friendly and helpful. Other guests were courteous and quiet. Lots of parking and close to Glasgow. The property was also very dog friendly which was my initial reason for choosing

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Very Good – Margaret from Ireland – August 11, 2025 (8/10)

Very clean and comfortable, reasonably priced. Handy that the restaurant is attached during the day. Very friendly and informative staff. Nice buzz about the place when they're open for business.

What could be improved: There is a common room down the hall, but tea/coffee making facilities in the room would be nice. It goes very quiet in the evening, and there are no TV's in the rooms…so bring a good book.

  • For the price 1 night would be ok. – Andy from United Kingdom – August 8, 2025 (8/10)

Clean room, comfy beds, fairly quiet, good cafe downstairs, friendly helpful staff.

What could be improved: The room is not spacious as advertised, but clean and adequate. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. One bedside lamp but could only plug in on the other side of the room, no good for reading. The big light was as bright as the sun.
There were no tv or drinks facilities in the room. They were in a communal area but felt uncomfortable using them with 15 workmen.

  • A great place to stay when in the area. Thank you. – Ron from United Kingdom – August 4, 2025 (10/10)

The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly, the location and price were great and the views were beautiful. All round, a good experience and we'll stay there again if we're in the area. Thank you.

What could be improved: Nothing, it was all good. The only thing to note would be to maybe use a What3Words link to get to the reception area as this cuts out any confusion of where to go.

  • Ideal place to stay for a walking weekend – Carole from United Kingdom – August 4, 2025 (9/10)

Staff were very friendly, room very clean, beds comfy, good shower, lovely breakfast.

  • Exceptional – Jürgen from Germany – August 2, 2025 (10/10)

very nice breakfast, quiet place, excellent possibility to park my motorcycle 😁.

  • Great place to stay outside Glasgow – Craig from United Kingdom – July 12, 2025 (9/10)

The team are amazingly friendly and the room was clean and tidy. No bath but the shower was excellent.

Just outside the corridor for the rooms is a communal area with a kitchen equiped with two ovens, kettle and a small fridge freezer. All plates, cups glasses and cookware available in the cupboards. There is also a TV in the communal area.

Breakfast was outstanding, but a little on the higher priced side. The café is spacious and light and airy.

What could be improved: Although there is a communal area i did miss having kettle and a TV in the room as I didn't feel comfortable watching TV later at night with other guests sleeping.
