Embassy Apartments Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Embassy Apartments on Kelvin Drive, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a 3-star place in this part of Glasgow. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots end up being the real gems, and this turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the guidebooks missed.

The location is actually brilliant if you know Glasgow at all. You’re tucked away in the West End, which means you get that lovely residential feel without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. Kelvin Drive itself is pretty quiet – I mean, you’ll hear the occasional car, but it’s nothing like staying near Sauchiehall Street where the weekend crowds can get a bit mental. What really sold me on the spot was how easy it was to walk down to the River Kelvin, and honestly, those morning walks along the water became the highlight of my stay. The Botanic Gardens are just a stone’s throw away too, which is perfect if you’re traveling with someone who needs their green space fix.

The apartments themselves have that lived-in comfort that you don’t always get with hotels – proper kitchens where you can actually cook (not just those sad little tea-making corners), and enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. The furnishing is pretty straightforward, nothing fancy, but everything works and it’s clean, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. Check-in was refreshingly drama-free, and the staff seemed to genuinely know the area well – they pointed me toward this fantastic little café on Byres Road that I never would have found otherwise. Parking was surprisingly painless too, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Glasgow city center with a car will appreciate. The 8.9 rating makes total sense when you factor in the value – you’re getting proper apartment living at hotel convenience, and you can walk to Hillhead subway station in about ten minutes when you want to explore the city center. It’s one of those places where you end up staying longer than planned because it just feels right, you know?

Reviews of Embassy Apartments

  • The rooms were spacious and quiet. There was free parking but it is down a very small lane and tricky to negotiate. No l – Judith from Australia – September 2, 2025 (9/10)

    Spacious room.

What could be improved: Car parking was tight and tricky – the front door was difficult to open and I hurt my hand badly.

  • Highly recommend – Walker from United Kingdom – August 27, 2025 (10/10)

  • Exceptional – Ping from United Kingdom – July 10, 2025 (10/10)

excellent location, brilliant helpful staff (Gabriel ), clean apartment, convenient yet quiet residential place.

What could be improved: Tin opener is so antique! Please try to buy pull tin food.

  • Great location. Great service. Good rooms – Bhuva from Australia – July 8, 2025 (9/10)

    Friendly and helpful host/reception

  • Terrific location, comfy and great value. – Mike from Australia – June 19, 2025 (8/10)

Loved the location and the ability to walk to the subway and local shops, pubs, and restaurants.

What could be improved: Coming from Australia, parking is never an issue. But here we had to squeeze into a very tight spot round the back of the apartments in an alley and on first night nothing was available. To UK residents this is probably normal.

  • Two Chums Just Chillin! – Irene from United Kingdom – June 18, 2025 (9/10)

Basic – Clean – Comfortable – Great Beds – Quiet – Easy Access to Shops & Eateries – Subway to City Centre.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Exceptional – Milada from Czech Republic – May 11, 2025 (10/10)

I really liked the nice lady at reception in next door hotel. She was very kind and help with any questions we had (shopping, post office…) Thank you!

  • Amazing – Emy from Netherlands – May 8, 2025 (10/10)

Very friendly staff, great value for the price. The kitchen and bathroom were clean and the bed comfortable.

What could be improved: We'd have like a couple more lids for the pans cause there was only one, and it took us a minute to realise the fridge was off. A notice for this would've been nice, but certainly wasn't a requirement.

  • Exceptional – Terri from United States – May 5, 2025 (10/10)

    Great location, quiet and clean
