I’m talking mismatched vintage furniture that somehow works perfectly together, local artwork on the walls (and I mean actually local, not mass-produced “Glasgow prints”), and this lived-in comfort that makes you want to hang around the common areas. The rooms vary quite a bit – mine had these massive windows that let in tons of light during the day, though fair warning, St George’s Road can get a bit busy during rush hour, so if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe mention that when you book.

What really sold me though was how the staff actually knew their neighborhood. When I asked about breakfast spots, they didn’t just point me toward some tourist trap – they sent me to this little café about three streets over where locals actually eat, and honestly? Best tattie scone I had in the entire city. The whole area’s got this great energy too, especially if you’re into wandering around. You’ve got the Botanic Gardens just up the road, plenty of proper pubs within walking distance, and if you’re feeling ambitious, the city center’s only about a twenty-minute walk along some pretty decent streets. Parking can be a bit tricky – it’s mostly street parking around there, but they’ll give you the lowdown on where to find spots and what the deal is with permits. I ended up leaving my car and just walking everywhere, which worked out perfectly since Glasgow’s way more walkable than people give it credit for.
