What I really appreciated was being in Blythswood Square area without paying Blythswood Square prices, if you know what I mean. You’re a five-minute walk from Central Station (which honestly saved me more than once when I was running late), and about the same to get to the Merchant City if you want that artsy, cobblestone vibe. The building itself has that solid Glasgow sandstone feel – nothing fancy, but you get the sense it’s been here forever and will be here long after we’re gone. There’s no fancy lobby or concierge, but the 8.8 rating makes sense when you consider this isn’t trying to be a hotel – it’s trying to be a really good place to stay, and it pulls that off well. The whole experience feels more like borrowing a friend’s well-located flat than checking into some sterile accommodation, which worked perfectly for my week there.
