Glasgow – 2 Bedroom Apartment Overview

Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first pulled up to Glasgow – 2 Bedroom Apartment on Westmoreland Street, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of the South Side, but once you get inside the ground floor flat, it’s actually quite charming in that understated Scottish way. You know what I mean – nothing flashy, but everything you need is there and it works well. The two bedrooms are properly sized (not those shoebox situations you sometimes get with city apartments), and there’s enough space in the living area that you don’t feel like you’re stepping on each other’s toes if you’re traveling with family or friends.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re right in the thick of things in Glasgow‘s South Side. Westmoreland Street isn’t one of those crazy busy roads, so you can actually sleep with the windows cracked open – which is great because, let’s face it, Scottish weather can be unpredictable and sometimes you need that fresh air. The kitchen has everything you’d actually use (proper kettle, decent-sized fridge, actual cooking facilities), and honestly, after eating out for a few days, being able to make a proper breakfast or grab snacks from the local shops felt like a luxury. Speaking of which, there’s a Tesco Express just a few minutes’ walk away, and you’re really close to some proper local pubs and cafes that tourists don’t usually find.

I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards – the decor is pretty standard rental apartment stuff – but it’s clean, comfortable, and the heating actually works properly, which anyone who’s spent time in older Glasgow flats will tell you is not always a given. The location turned out to be brilliant for getting around the city; you can walk to Queen’s Park in about ten minutes (great for morning runs or just clearing your head), and getting into the city center is straightforward with decent bus connections. Parking can be a bit of a hunt during busy times, but it’s free street parking if you can snag a spot. The whole area has this nice residential feel where you’re living like a local rather than feeling like a tourist, which I actually prefer. Sure, the 6.6 rating might not scream luxury, but sometimes you just want a proper place to stay that doesn’t cost a fortune and gives you room to breathe – and this ticks those boxes pretty well.
