Glasgow Argyle Hotel, BW Signature Collection Overview

I’ll be honest, when I first walked into the Glasgow Argyle Hotel, BW Signature Collection, I wasn’t expecting much – you know how some hotel names can sound a bit corporate. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby has this warm, welcoming vibe that feels distinctly Scottish without going overboard with the tartan and bagpipes theme (thank goodness). The staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests, which is rarer than it should be these days.

What really won me over was how well they’ve balanced modern comfort with character. The rooms are thoughtfully designed – not just pretty, but actually functional. I mean, there are enough power outlets where you need them, the lighting works for both reading and getting ready, and the beds are properly comfortable (I’m talking sleep-through-construction-noise comfortable). The bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not doing some weird contortion dance to shower, and the water pressure is solid. You know what really impressed me though? The soundproofing is excellent. Glasgow can get lively, especially on weekends, but I slept peacefully every night.

The location is honestly perfect for exploring the city center. You’re close enough to walk to most of the good stuff – the merchant district, some fantastic pubs that locals actually frequent, and those little independent shops tucked away on side streets that you’d miss if you stayed somewhere more touristy. I particularly loved being able to stroll to some of the best curry houses in the city (Glasgow’s curry scene is seriously underrated). The hotel sits in a spot where you feel connected to the real rhythm of the city without being overwhelmed by it. Parking can be a bit tricky during busy periods, but the front desk staff always had solid suggestions for nearby options. What struck me most was how this place manages to feel both polished and genuine – it’s the kind of hotel where business travelers feel comfortable but families don’t feel out of place. The service hits that sweet spot of being attentive without hovering, and they clearly know their city well enough to give you directions to places that aren’t just the obvious tourist traps.

Brilliant location, within walking distance of the town centre, but has bus and train access.
Friendly, cheerful, attentive and happy staff. A good sign. Nothing too much trouble from check in to leaving.
Breakfast delicious, fruit salad and raisin pastries stand out. Plenty of choice.
Highly recommend and would definitely return.
    Thank you

Hotel was lovely. Staff very attentive.

  • Per from Sweden (9/10)

The SPA was Great as well as the breakfast. Very shorts walk to Glasgow Central and city center.

  • Mukanzu from United Kingdom (7/10)

Very welcoming and friendly staff, got checked in very quickly. My wife and I got 2 key cards and later discovered that my key card wasn't activated but this was resolved very quickly.

We wanted to enjoy the spa on the day we arrived and the next day before returning home only to discover that the spa is only open between 4pm and 8pm so we were a bit disappointed with that as it meant we could only use the spa on the day we arrived and because we had a function to attend that night, the spa treatment was very short lived and to make matters worse the sauna was off limits some issue with it.

The pool looked great but had no chance to use it as we were rushing, the jacuzzi was good, very powerful jets and apparently 6 people allowed at once although this would be a squeeze, the water in the jacuzzi was lukewarm if at all warm. The steam room was good and probably reasonable size if the people had a choice to use the sauna too.

The hotel room we had, was a double room on the 6th floor. It was absolutely perfect large enough with its own ensuite plenty of spare towers, good size TV, kettle tea bags and no noise from outside etc

The breakfast in the morning was perfection, plenty choices and staff were very helpful directed us at a table and any used plates were removed from the tables very quickly and the food was really fresh.

Checking out was straight forward, no staff were at reception but they had a checkout called express checkout whereby you just put your key cards into some sort of post box at the reception.

All in all the experience was good, location was great and the price was very fair. I would definitely stay again especially if they resolved the spa opening times and fixed the sauna.
