Glasgow City – 1 Bedroom Apartment Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Glasgow City – 1 Bedroom Apartment on Millroad Street, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The East End isn’t exactly where most tourists end up, but you know what? That’s actually what made this place interesting. It’s tucked away in a proper residential area where you get a real feel for how Glaswegians actually live, not just the polished city center version.

The apartment itself is… well, it’s definitely got character. I mean, it’s not going to win any luxury awards (hence no official star rating), but there’s something refreshingly authentic about staying somewhere that feels like an actual home rather than a sterile hotel room. The bedroom’s a decent size, and honestly, after walking around Glasgow all day, you’ll appreciate having a proper space to spread out. The kitchen‘s functional too – I actually ended up cooking a few meals there because, let’s face it, eating out every night gets expensive, and there’s a decent Tesco just down the road on Gallowgate.

What I really liked about this spot is the neighborhood vibe. Millroad Street is quiet enough that you’ll sleep well (no late-night party noise like you get near the Merchant City), but you’re still only about a 15-minute walk to Glasgow Green, which is lovely for a morning stroll. The Barras market is practically on your doorstep if you’re into that sort of thing – weekends get pretty lively down there. Transport links are actually solid too; you can catch a bus into the city center easily, though I found myself walking most places because, honestly, Glasgow’s not that big once you get your bearings. The 6.9 rating might seem a bit middling, but I think that’s more about people expecting hotel-style service when this is clearly more of a “local living” experience. If you’re the type who needs daily housekeeping and a concierge, this isn’t your place. But if you want somewhere genuine to base yourself while exploring the real Glasgow – not just the tourist bits – then it’s worth considering. Just don’t expect luxury; expect authenticity, which in my book, is sometimes way more valuable.

  • Waste of money – Jessica from United Kingdom – December 9, 2024 (1/10)

Nothing as we couldn’t get in.

What could be improved: The owner states to contact the phone number prior to arrange collection of the keys and for urgent enquiries. We called multiple times prior but no answer, no response to any text messages. We needed to leave our car there before heading out to the football match but there were no responses to any message or call therefore we had to result in booking another hotel costing £300. At 15:00 we then received a message on booking .com with the key safe number, at which point we already booked another hotel and were at the match. Disgusting service. Site clearly states to contact the mobile number given to arrange stay. If it stated that details for booking would have been messaged at 15:00 we would have known this was protocol and not booked another hotel. We followed instructions stated on the site. Not what you need when you’re 5 hours from home. Now out of pocket.

  • Geräumig, funktional, aber hygienisch bedenklich – Jan from Germany – August 13, 2025 (5/10)
