Glasgow Hampden Garden Flat Overview
So I stumbled across the Glasgow Hampden Garden Flat during a weekend trip when most of the city center hotels were either booked solid or ridiculously expensive – you know how it gets during festival season. Honestly, finding this little gem on Carmunnock Road turned out to be one of those happy accidents that actually made the trip better. The flat sits in this quiet residential stretch of the South Side, and I mean properly quiet – none of that city center noise that keeps you up half the night. What really caught my attention was how the place manages to feel like you’re staying in someone’s actual home rather than some sterile hotel room with plastic-wrapped glasses.
The location is honestly pretty clever if you think about it. You’re literally a stone’s throw from Hampden Park (hence the name, I suppose), so if you’re here for a match or concert, you could probably roll out of bed twenty minutes before kickoff and still make it. But here’s what I really appreciated – Glasgow‘s city center is only about fifteen minutes away by car, and there’s decent bus connections along Cathcart Road if you don’t fancy driving into town. The flat itself has this lived-in comfort that you just don’t get in chain hotels. The kitchen actually has proper mugs instead of those tiny hotel cups, and there’s enough counter space to spread out if you grab groceries from the ASDA just down the road. I spent a good chunk of one evening just sitting by the garden-facing window with a cup of tea, watching the neighbors tend their little patches – sounds boring, but it was exactly the kind of low-key evening I needed.
Now look, it’s not going to win any luxury awards – the rating of 6.3 probably tells you that much – but sometimes that’s exactly what works. The shower has decent pressure (always a gamble with older Glasgow flats), the bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night, and the heating actually worked properly, which believe me, matters in Scotland even in summer. What really sold me was the genuine feel of the place. You get the sense that someone actually cares about this flat rather than just seeing it as another booking to process. The check-in was straightforward, parking wasn’t a nightmare like it is in the West End, and I could walk to Queen’s Park in about ten minutes when I needed some green space. If you’re the type who values character over polish and wants to experience Glasgow more like a temporary resident than a tourist passing through, this place hits that sweet spot between affordable and comfortable.

Reviews of Glasgow Hampden Garden Flat
Fair – Paige from United Kingdom – May 6, 2025 (5/10)
It was cosy
What could be improved: The key didn't let us in the main door. After hammering on he finally helped with it. Also walls dead thin so I heard everything upstairsA good place to sleep, after an event at Hampden – Pamba from United Kingdom – March 27, 2024 (7/10)
The bed was comfortable.
It appears to be able to sleep at least 4 people.
What could be improved: The entrance is a bit tricky to find, and not well lit in the evenings.
The living room, kitchen and bathroom are not of the same standard as the bedroom.
It was very cold when I arrived.Good – Christine from Australia – June 14, 2023 (7/10)
The property was central and had shops close by. The facilities where good.
What could be improved: The people in the apartment above us where noisy when moving round early in the morning. It was exactly what we needed for the time we were in Glasgow. – Iona from United Kingdom – December 19, 2024 (7/10)
The flat was well equipped with kitchen essentials and was a nice home away from home.
What could be improved: We struggled to get heat, so the living room was quite cold throughout our stay.Good – Nawaz from United Kingdom – September 12, 2024 (7/10)
Nice location, and almost everything is reachable. Good accommodation for a small budget.
What could be improved: The entrance is not good.Get away to glasgow – Amy from United Kingdom – April 12, 2024 (7/10)
I liked how friendly the hosts were. Location was good, flat was clean but it seemed to have had a recent flood/water damage so there were a very small amount of issues although we managed ok with them
What could be improved: Batteries had run out for the lounge tv but it wasn't a big issue as we went for the location not to watch a screen. There had been some water damage but it didn't impact us much. Overall the flat is ideal for location and we would book again if we returned.Pleasant – Joanne from United Kingdom – January 2, 2024 (6/10)

Location
Main bed
Kitchen well equipped
What could be improved: Poor internet, TV not working, leak under sink, shower fills up, sofa bed, neighbours above blasting music until 1 a.m
Whole place is very tired lookingDog friendly, good value and location. Facilities need some TLC – Jessica from United Kingdom – October 4, 2022 (6/10)
Good price, good location and dog friendly. Was nice to have a garden for the dog to run around in. The bedroom was very large had a lot of open space. Definitely good value for what you get. Large bed.
What could be improved: Garden could do with some TLC. The remote for the TV didn't work, when trying to turn TV off it muted instead. There were hairs where the toiletries are from previous guest. One of the toilet roll also had a strange orange mark soaked in so did not use. Loose taps and slow draining water in the shower. Some loose bulb sockets in the bedroom. Some of the drawers had questionable items in them.
