Glasgow Marriott Hotel Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked into the Glasgow Marriott Hotel – you know how chain hotels can be sometimes – but this place actually surprised me in the best way. It sits right in the heart of Glasgow‘s business district, and I mean right in the thick of things, which sounds like it might be all corporate and stuffy, but it’s not. The lobby has this warm, modern Scottish vibe that doesn’t try too hard, if that makes sense. Rich tartans mixed with contemporary furniture, and the staff genuinely seem to enjoy working there (always a good sign).

What really got me was how they’ve managed to balance being a proper business hotel while still feeling welcoming to regular travelers like me. The rooms are solid – nothing groundbreaking, but everything works properly, the beds are actually comfortable, and the bathrooms have decent water pressure, which honestly matters more than people admit. I stayed on the seventh floor and could see bits of the city stretching out toward the west, though you’re not booking this place for panoramic views. The soundproofing is pretty good too, which I appreciated since Argyle Street can get lively, especially on weekends when the pubs empty out.

The restaurant downstairs serves better food than you’d expect from a hotel – I had their Scottish salmon one evening and it was genuinely well-prepared, not just microwaved and plated. Room service is reliable if you’re staying in after a long day of meetings or sightseeing, though it’s pricier than grabbing something from one of the excellent pubs within walking distance. Speaking of walking, you’re maybe ten minutes from Buchanan Street for shopping, and the Gallery of Modern Art is practically next door if you want some culture between appointments. The gym is decent enough if you need to burn off some haggis, and they keep it clean and well-maintained. Parking can be a bit of a headache in this part of town, but the hotel has a garage (though you’ll pay for it). Check-in was smooth both times I’ve stayed – no drama, no weird surprises on the bill later. Look, it’s not going to change your life or anything, but for a reliable, comfortable base in Glasgow’s city center, especially if you’re mixing business with pleasure or just want to be close to everything without the boutique hotel pretensions, it does the job really well.

Our stay at the Marriott was splendid. The hotel is close to the centre but not directly in the centre. Best of both worlds. Close to all local transport, bus (stop outside hotel), national rail with two stations within walking distance,
Scot rail local rail link less than 5 minutes from hotel, taxis and Glasgow underground.
A number of local attractions are walking distances.
We travelled to Glasgow for the Celt Connection festival and found the local public transport excellent to use and very well priced.
The hotel was an outstanding choice for us. All aspects of the hotel were very good, cleanliness, room, breakfast, spa and pool, bar and restaurant.
The staff very very attentive, helpful and friendly.
Member's of staff such as Adi in the breakfast and bar area set a great standard that she and the rest of the staff maintained to make our stay exceptional.
The Celtic Connections is a superb celebration of Scottish culture.
We will return to the Marriott if we attend the Celtic Connection in 2026.

When you first entered the building there was a nice young man who made us very welcomed and asked if he could take our bags. The whole hotel was very sociable, friendly, and clean and went above and beyond. It would help if you could with no problem and with a smile on their face
