The bathroom was smaller than I expected (aren’t they always?), and honestly, you could hear pretty much everything happening in the neighboring rooms. If you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack some earplugs.

What actually surprised me was how handy the location turned out to be. St George’s Road might not sound glamorous, but you’re within walking distance of Kelvingrove Park – which, let me tell you, is absolutely gorgeous if you catch it on a decent day. Plus, the subway’s not far if your feet are giving up on you. The owner seemed friendly enough during check-in, though I got the impression they were juggling quite a few things at once. Parking was… well, it’s Glasgow city center adjacent, so you’re looking at street parking and hoping for the best, or finding a paid spot somewhere nearby. I ended up walking more than I planned, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing in a city like this. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet in the evenings, which is either perfect for a good night’s sleep or a bit too sleepy depending on what you’re after. Would I stay here again? Maybe, if I was looking for something super budget-friendly and didn’t mind the quirks. It’s definitely not luxury, and that rating reflects some real issues, but sometimes these slightly chaotic little places have more personality than the polished chain hotels.
