Glasgow Room Woodside Overview
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Glasgow Room Woodside – this place is… well, it’s complicated. When I first rolled up to Raglan Street, I honestly wasn’t sure what I was getting into. The building sits in this sort of in-between area of Glasgow where residential meets slightly rough around the edges, you know? It’s not the polished city center, but it’s not completely off the beaten path either.
The whole “unique boutique hotel” thing they’ve got going on is basically code for “we’re doing our own thing and it might work for you or it might not.” I mean, there’s definitely character here – the kind of place that feels like someone converted a townhouse without quite finishing all their grand plans. My room was clean enough, though I noticed the carpet had seen better days and there was this persistent smell of old wood and something I couldn’t quite place. The heating worked (crucial in Glasgow, trust me), but the radiator made these random clanking sounds that took some getting used to. On the plus side, the windows actually opened properly, which is more than I can say for a lot of budget places.
Here’s the thing about this part of town – you’re walking distance to some decent pubs that locals actually drink at, not tourist traps. There’s a proper chippy just down the road that stays open late, and if you need groceries or whatever, there’s a small shop that’ll do the trick. Parking was surprisingly easy to find on the street, though I’d probably move my car by morning if I were staying multiple nights. The walk into central Glasgow takes about twenty minutes if you don’t mind the exercise, or there’s bus connections that aren’t terrible. Honestly, for the price point, the location works better than you’d expect – it’s just not going to win any beauty contests. The check-in process was pretty no-frills, handled by someone who seemed like they probably lived nearby rather than hotel staff in the traditional sense. Would I recommend it? That really depends on what you’re after and how much you’re willing to spend. If you need basic shelter in Glasgow and want to save some money for actually experiencing the city, it’ll do the job. Just don’t expect anything fancy, and maybe bring your own coffee.

basic room, which was expensive for what you got – Yennie from United Kingdom – August 18, 2025 (3/10)
What could be improved: This was the most basic place I have ever stayed in. Even the toilet paper was rationed. The address that was booked was different from the address that we ended up in. It was confusing.
