When I first pulled up to 26 Craigie Street, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior — it’s a typical Glasgow tenement building — but step inside and you’ll find a well-appointed four-star apartment that feels more like a proper home than a hotel stay. The building has character, you know what I mean? Those high ceilings and original features that make Glasgow properties so appealing.

The Space and Layout

What really works about this place is how they’ve used the space. The two bedrooms are actually generous — not those cramped afterthoughts you sometimes get in city apartments. The main bedroom has a proper double bed and enough room to spread out your luggage without feeling like you’re playing Tetris. The second bedroom works well for kids or if you’re traveling with friends who don’t mind slightly smaller quarters. The living area flows nicely into a compact kitchen that’s got everything you need if you want to cook rather than eat out every night (which, let’s face it, can get expensive in Glasgow).

Location and Getting Around

Here’s the thing about staying south of the river — you’re actually closer to some brilliant spots that tourists often miss. The Citizen’s Theatre is practically on your doorstep, and you can walk to the city center in about 15 minutes if you don’t mind a bit of exercise. The area has really come up in recent years, with some decent cafes and pubs within walking distance. Plus, there’s excellent transport links — the subway isn’t far, and you can catch buses into town easily enough.

Practical Perks

One of the best things about this place? Free parking — and I mean actually free, not “free for the first hour then we’ll charge you a fortune.” In Glasgow city center, that’s worth its weight in gold. The apartment comes with all the basics you’d expect: decent Wi-Fi, a washing machine (lifesaver for longer stays), and a proper shower with good water pressure. It’s not fancy, but everything works as it should, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed.

There’s something about having your own space — being able to make a cup of tea when you want, having somewhere to properly unpack — that just feels more relaxed than a traditional hotel room.   The accommodation is a 45 minute walk from Glasgow city centre and offers the comfort of 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom.
  The accommodation has a large fridge and the kitchen is generally well equipped. The bedrooms are spacious. The apartment is on the ground floor, which is always a plus when travelling.
  
  What could be improved: Information on how to enter the accommodation unit should be provided at least that morning.
  It's inconvenient when you have to call for information.
  The accommodation could also have had a chair in each bedroom that could be moved to the kitchen/dining area when there are more than 2 people in the accommodation than can fit on the sofa bed located there.
  The window in the kitchen is difficult to close, i.e. it does not close after opening.
  The kitchen is missing pots and pans. It would be good to add a few plates and a larger coffee cup.
  The wifi does not work, but the signal is generally bad throughout Scotland so I would not pay attention to it.
  At least one double bed should have 2 duvets. It's not just couples who travel and often don't want to share a duvet. Also, an extra blanket would be useful.

  There was a wee bit of a problem with emailing the key collection instructions, but that was quickly sorted out. Location was great, plenty of shops, pubs and cafes nearby.
  
  What could be improved: Cooking facilities were not great. Only two very thin frying pans were in the flat. There was no washing up liquid or cloths or scrubbers to clean our burnt breakfast with. We had to improvise with shampoo and nip out to the shops for a scrubber.
