The four-star property sits in this lovely Victorian terrace that’s been thoughtfully converted, and honestly, the attention to detail is obvious from the moment you step through the front door. There’s this perfect balance between historic charm and modern comfort that a lot of Glasgow hotels try for but don’t quite nail.

Location & Neighborhood

The Southside location is actually brilliant if you know Glasgow at all — you’re far enough from the tourist crowds but close enough to everything that matters. Morrison Street puts you within easy walking distance of the Merchant City area, and I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and be at some of Glasgow’s best restaurants and bars within ten minutes. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night despite being so central. The couples who frequent this place clearly know what they’re doing — it’s got that romantic, tucked-away vibe that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the guidebooks missed.

The Rooms

My room was one of those spaces that just works, you know? High ceilings with original period features, but the bed was properly comfortable and the bathroom was completely modern — none of that “charming but impractical” nonsense you sometimes get in converted buildings. The windows are generous, so you get loads of natural light during the day, and the furnishings strike this nice balance between stylish and actually functional. I particularly loved the little seating area by the window — perfect for morning coffee or just watching the neighborhood come to life.

Service & Atmosphere

The staff here genuinely seem to care about what they’re doing, which makes such a difference. They’re knowledgeable about Glasgow without being pushy about it, and they clearly take pride in the property. The whole place has this relaxed, upscale feel — refined without being stuffy, if that makes sense. You get the impression that Glasgow Townhouse attracts guests who appreciate quality but aren’t interested in showing off about it. There’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole operation that feels very Glasgow, actually.

  What could be improved: Cleaning,facilities,no elevator,no fresh towels,no toilet paper,kitchen so greasy,floor,toilet,shower was broken,no hot water in the kitchen,fridge was so messy,washing machine,etc

  Facilities are good excellent showers and a pool table albeit not level. Good kitchen dining area. Interesting old building.
  
  Managing agents seemed pleasant on the phone but did not receive the entry instructions until late as I missed that a deposit is required.
  
  What could be improved: The flat was dirty, food left in the fridge and microwave. Broken beds which appear to have been slept in but not changed.
  
  Rubbish left in the bathrooms, no toilet paper, bins not emptied.
  
  Condom wrappers and Nitrous oxide bottles.
  
  Cleaners were sent in but they removed the obvious but not the waste left under the furniture or around.
  
  A deposit is required but I suppose the previous tenant left in a hurry and assume they did not get their money back although it was not paid to the cleaning team.
  
  Also the lift is broken so 5 flights of stairs to climb.
  
  A strange arrangement with the bedrooms overlooking the lounge l, there is a barrier but no solid wall so you are disturb by anyone else in the lounge.

  Location was good , few minute drive from city centre , the pool table and the big bath is one of the best things about the stay.
