Glasgow Woodside Overview
Okay, so I need to be completely honest about Glasgow Woodside – this place is… well, it’s complicated. I stayed here during what I can only describe as a particularly grim February in Glasgow, and honestly, I’m still processing the experience. The hotel sits on Braid Street in the North West, which isn’t exactly the postcard part of the city, but you know what? Sometimes the most interesting stories come from the places that don’t make it onto Instagram.
The thing about Glasgow Woodside is that it calls itself a “unique boutique hotel,” and they’re not wrong about the unique part. Walking in, I immediately got the sense that this place has seen better days – probably several decades of them. The lobby has this sort of faded grandeur thing going on, like a Victorian parlor that’s been through a few rough winters (which, let’s face it, probably describes most of Glasgow). My room was… basic. I mean, really basic. The heating worked intermittently, which in February Glasgow is less charming quirk and more survival concern. The walls are thin enough that I became intimately familiar with my neighbor’s taste in late-night television, and don’t get me started on the plumbing sounds that punctuated the early morning hours.
But here’s the thing – and I realize this might sound strange given what I’ve just told you – there’s something almost endearing about Glasgow Woodside’s complete lack of pretension. The staff genuinely tried to help, even when the WiFi decided to take extended breaks or when the radiator in my room started making sounds like an angry bagpipe. The location actually works in your favor if you’re looking to experience Glasgow beyond the tourist trail. You’re a quick walk from some proper local pubs where nobody’s trying to sell you overpriced haggis, and the nearby streets give you a real sense of how actual Glaswegians live. I discovered this brilliant little bakery just two streets over that I never would have found if I’d been staying in the city center. Plus, parking is surprisingly manageable around here, which anyone who’s driven in Glasgow will tell you is practically a miracle. Would I recommend Glasgow Woodside? That depends entirely on what you’re after. If you want polished service and thread counts you can brag about, look elsewhere. But if you’re the type of traveler who appreciates authenticity over amenities, who doesn’t mind a bit of character (even when that character includes questionable carpet choices), then this place might actually surprise you. Just pack layers, bring good headphones, and maybe lower your expectations about water pressure.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Glasgow through trusted local agencies that provide insider knowledge about the best districts for experiencing the city’s musical atmosphere and artistic heritage.

Reviews of Glasgow Woodside
Bad – Guo from United Kingdom – June 20, 2025 (1/10)

Fuyez! – Julien from Belgium – June 1, 2025 (1/10)
Absolument rien.
What could be improved: – logement autre que celui réservé initialement (soit-disant mieux!?
