The common areas are where this place really shines though – there’s this gorgeous lounge space with these massive windows that actually make you want to hang out and chat with other travelers, which, let’s face it, doesn’t always happen in hostels. The kitchen facilities are genuinely impressive too, like someone actually thought about what people need when they’re cooking (enough counter space, decent knives, fridges that aren’t overflowing with mystery leftovers from 2019).

What really won me over was the attention to detail that you don’t typically see in budget accommodation. The beds – even in the shared rooms – have proper privacy curtains and individual reading lights, plus power outlets right where you need them. No more charging your phone on the floor across the room, thank god. The bathrooms are cleaned obsessively, and I noticed they actually have hooks for your towels and shelves for your toiletries, which sounds minor but makes such a difference when you’re living out of a backpack. The staff genuinely seem to care about helping you navigate the city too – not just the tourist trap stuff, but actual local recommendations. One guy at reception steered me toward this incredible curry place on Gibson Street that I never would have found otherwise. The 8.3 rating makes total sense when you experience the whole package – it’s that sweet spot where you get the social energy of hostel life without sacrificing comfort or cleanliness. Plus, Glasgow’s got this amazing music scene, and being centrally located means you can stumble back from King Tut’s or the Barrowland Ballroom without breaking the bank on taxis. I actually extended my stay by two nights because leaving felt premature, and that’s not something I say lightly about shared accommodation.

Hotel in Glasgow booking should be done early, especially during summer festival season when the city hosts internationally celebrated performances at iconic venues like the SSE Hydro.

  If you just need somewhere to sleep and don't need it want anything fancy, this is the place, it's quite, cosy and warm. Beds are comfy, everything is clean and tidy and the interior of the building, especially the staircase is beautiful.
