Glenisla House Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Glenisla House on that tree-lined street in the east end, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. It’s one of those places that doesn’t fit neatly into any category, you know? Not quite a B&B, definitely not a chain hotel, just this lovely Victorian townhouse that someone decided to turn into something special. The fact that it doesn’t have an official star rating actually works in its favor – it means they’re doing their own thing without worrying about ticking boxes.
What really struck me (and I mean this in the best way) is how genuinely local it feels. You’re right in Parkhead, which honestly most tourists never see, but that’s exactly what makes it interesting. The area’s got this authentic Glasgow vibe – you’ll hear proper Glaswegian accents at the corner shop, and Celtic Park is practically around the corner if you’re into football. The house itself has kept all those original Victorian features that make you feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual history, not some corporate renovation. The floors creak a bit when you walk upstairs, but it’s charming rather than annoying – gives the place character.
The rooms are individually decorated, which I actually appreciate because it means each stay feels different. Mine had this gorgeous bay window that looked out onto the street, and honestly, there’s something quite peaceful about watching Glasgow life go by from up there. The owner clearly cares about the details – proper Scottish breakfast ingredients, decent coffee (not instant, thank god), and they actually know the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations. Parking was surprisingly easy on the street, which anyone who’s driven in Glasgow will tell you is no small thing. The only minor thing I’d mention is that being on a residential street, you do hear the occasional car in the early morning, but it’s nothing compared to what you’d get staying in the city center. I mean, you’re getting authentic Glasgow residential life – that’s part of the charm, really. It’s about a fifteen-minute bus ride into town, and the transport links are actually quite good once you figure them out. This isn’t the kind of place you’d recommend to someone who wants everything handed to them on a silver platter, but if you want to experience Glasgow like you’re staying at a friend’s house rather than just passing through as a tourist, Glenisla House really delivers on that front.

Reviews of Glenisla House
perfect stay and good value! – Denise from United States – July 9, 2024 (7/10)
We wanted something just outside of the city and this location was perfect!
What could be improved: The kitchen needs a bit more suppliesVery Good – Lewis from United Kingdom – December 22, 2023 (8/10)
Everything was comfortable, clean and very well presented. Had a nice style to it and wasn't too difficult to find.
What could be improved: The shower didn't have hot water but thats ok as these things happen and the bins outside were overflowing a bit.for the price you pay can’t fault anything – Harry from United Kingdom – May 19, 2024 (8/10)
well priced, spacious and clean
Very Good – Tee from Malaysia – March 29, 2024 (8/10)
Very cozy
What could be improved: We were instructed to leave the property with clean dishes, but we were sadly greeted with greasy kitchenware. There were no sponge to wash the dishes, and only one hand towel for the entire place (we desperately need it for the kitchen) 😅But we enjoyed overall – Paul from United Kingdom – June 22, 2024 (7/10)
Well decorated
What could be improved: Poor parking
Couldn’t find bedding for the sofa bedWonderful – Aine from United Kingdom – December 1, 2024 (9/10)

Pleasent and comfortable – Kashif from United Kingdom – September 9, 2024 (9/10)
Prime location , clean and spacious
Poor – Bart84s from Poland – November 23, 2024 (3/10)
Nice furnished house, seams to be safe neighborhood.
What could be improved: Ridiculously low water pressure, low enought that the elec shower would not recognise when hot water suppose to be flowing. So we end up not having shower and clean dishes in cold water for 4 days. Additioly the cleaner knock on the door 2h before check out, then keep knocking every 10min and demanding us to leave as soon as possible cos she have another places to be and not fancy waiting outside.Fair – Allan from United Kingdom – June 28, 2024 (5/10)
Tidy enough living room and kitchen
What could be improved: Door was unlocked when we arrived, back door handle was hanging off door
Upstairs bedroom carpet had stains on it
Rubbish lying outside back door , overpriced and some refund requested
