Home of Joy – 3 bedroom home with private garden Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Home of Joy on Hyndland Street, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from a 3-star rental in this part of Glasgow. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come without fancy marketing or five-star pretensions, and this three-bedroom house absolutely delivered on that front.
The location is actually brilliant if you know the West End at all. Hyndland is one of those residential pockets that feels properly Scottish – tree-lined streets, red sandstone tenements, and the kind of neighborhood where you’ll hear actual Glaswegians chatting at the local shops rather than just tourists. You’re a decent walk from the main Byres Road chaos (which honestly can be a blessing), but close enough that you can still pop over for dinner or drinks without much fuss. The private garden was genuinely surprising – I mean, outdoor space in Glasgow isn’t exactly common, especially somewhere this central. It’s not massive, but there’s enough room to sit outside with your morning coffee, and if you’re traveling with kids or just need a breather from city exploration, it feels like having your own little sanctuary.
Inside, the house has that lived-in comfort that makes you actually want to stay put for an evening rather than constantly rushing out to see things. The three bedrooms work well for families or groups – honestly, splitting the cost between six people makes this place ridiculously good value. The kitchen‘s properly equipped too, not just the bare minimum you sometimes get with holiday rentals. I ended up cooking dinner a couple of nights because, well, sometimes you want to eat something that isn’t deep-fried (though let’s be real, Glasgow’s chippy game is strong). The whole place feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental property, which I suppose makes sense given the name. There are those little touches – decent coffee mugs, enough towels, places to actually hang your clothes – that show someone’s thought about what guests might need.
The 8.2 rating makes sense to me. It’s not trying to be luxury, but it gets the important stuff right. Street parking can be a bit hit-or-miss, especially during the week, but that’s just West End life. The area gets quiet in the evenings, which is perfect if you’re planning to actually sleep rather than party until dawn. And honestly? Being in a proper residential street means you get a feel for how Glaswegians actually live, not just the tourist version of the city. If you’re the type who prefers having space to spread out over hotel room service, and you want to experience Glasgow like a temporary local rather than a visitor, this place hits the sweet spot between comfort and authenticity.

A gorgeous west end property in a great location with loads of room – Rosy from United Kingdom – March 4, 2025 (8/10)
The accommodation was beautiful and the host was helpful when setting up the property ahead of our arrival.
Lovely stay for Cottiers wedding – Laura from United Kingdom – February 17, 2025 (9/10)
Lovely spacious flat in the heart of the west end.
My partner and I got married at Cottiers and this was the perfect location to stay and get ready on the day. It was big enough for 5 adults and a dog and was nicely decorated.
What could be improved: The communication could be improved to check in and some basic instructions to access the WiFi and work the aga/other applications in the house.Great location and hosts, just needs some small refinements to make it amazing. – Kimberley from United Kingdom – November 23, 2023 (7/10)
The accommodation was very spacious and in a great location. The host was available to talk through everything in the home and for any questions we had at any time.
What could be improved: There were three large bedrooms and so set up for 6 adults sleeping, however there were only 4 dinning chairs in the kitchen. There were towels provided, but did not seem to be spares or any spare bedding. We did not need these and would have contacted the host if we did need them but it would have been nice to be there. It was very nice, but did not seem 100% set up for rental.Lovely period house in a central position in Partick – Andrew from United Kingdom – November 2, 2024 (10/10)
Really spacious period property. Great amenities and pristine
What could be improved: Internet did come and go. But to be honest we were not there to sit on phones. So didn’t spoil our experienceGood – Lou from United Kingdom – September 29, 2024 (7/10)
