Homely in Hampden Overview

First Impressions

Homely in Hampden lives up to its name in the best possible way — this four-star property feels like staying at a friend’s beautifully appointed home rather than a typical hotel. Located on Cathcart Road in Glasgow‘s South Side, it’s one of those places that immediately puts you at ease. The moment you walk in, you realize this isn’t your standard corporate accommodation. There’s something genuinely welcoming about the atmosphere that makes you want to kick off your shoes and settle in for a proper stay.

The Southside Advantage

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re in the heart of Glasgow’s creative quarter without the tourist crowds. The Southside has this authentic Glasgow vibe that you just don’t get staying in the city center hotels. You’re walking distance to Queen’s Park (honestly, one of the city’s best-kept secrets), and the local pub scene around here is fantastic. Couples absolutely rave about the area, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about wandering these tree-lined streets. Plus, you can actually find parking here, which anyone who’s driven in Glasgow will tell you is worth its weight in gold.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in felt more like a boutique apartment than a hotel space. Everything’s been thoughtfully designed — I mean, someone actually cared about the details here. The furnishings strike that perfect balance between stylish and comfortable, and there’s proper storage space (you know how rare that is). The bed was genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-comfortable, and the bathroom had all those little touches that make you feel pampered without being over the top. What really impressed me was how quiet everything was — you’d never guess you’re on a main road.

Local Flavor and Dining

While there isn’t a restaurant on-site, this actually works in your favor. The Southside has some of Glasgow’s best independent eateries within walking distance. There’s this brilliant little café just down the road that does proper Scottish breakfast, and if you’re into craft beer, you’re spoiled for choice. The staff here know the area inside and out — they’ll point you toward hidden gems that most visitors never discover. It’s that local knowledge that makes staying here feel like you’re getting the real Glasgow experience.

Why Guests Love It

What sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both special and unpretentious. The recent guest ratings speak for themselves — people genuinely love staying here, and it shows in every review. You’re getting boutique hotel quality without the attitude or the inflated prices. The location score of 9.6 isn’t just about convenience; it’s about being somewhere that feels authentically Glasgow. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend or exploring the city’s cultural scene, Homely in Hampden gives you that perfect base where you can actually relax and feel at home.

Early hotels booking in Glasgow secures backstage theater tours, whisky masterclasses, and Clyde paddleboard slots.

Perfect location. We attended a concert at Hampden Park, and the crowds trying to get home were enormous. I can’t recommend this place enough if you’re going to the stadium.

Easy to check-in. Very communicative hosts who gave clear instructions on checking in.

Cosy property, felt very comfortable and had a great night sleep.

TV had any streaming service you could need.

    Kitchen stocked with utensils etc

Very nice hosts, helps you feel more comfortable in a new city.

What could be improved: Shower Gel/Shampoo wasn’t provided so be sure you bring your own.

  • Home away from home – Chibuzor from United Kingdom – May 31, 2025 (8/10)

Absolutely everything. When you walk in at first it feels like you’ve got into a very old looking house but a turn to the right where the stay is changes everything. Neat, tidy, cozy, most food making devices that you could use for a short stay are kept at your beck and call! Air fryer, cooker, toaster. Owner even left some chocolates for us. I usually leave properties looking forward to my next move but this one was hard to leave. It felt like Home and away from home. Absolutely beautiful place. Don’t think twice just pay enjoy your time.

What could be improved: The owner could be more accessible. He doesn’t like being contacted via phone and as a result we stayed for almost 20-25 mins outside property on check in day. I was out of data and couldn’t log in booking.com.

  • Spacious and good location but needs improvement – Joanne from United Kingdom – May 11, 2025 (5/10)

    Spacious and location

What could be improved: Kitchen & utensils not very clean and the heating in the main living room and the bathroom wasn’t working. It wasn’t too bad because the weather was warming but if it was winter months then it would have been really cold

  • Exceptional – Robert from United Kingdom – August 29, 2024 (10/10)
