Hotel Indigo Glasgow by IHG Overview

You know what really caught me off guard about Hotel Indigo Glasgow by IHG? Walking into the lobby, I actually stopped mid-step because of how they’ve managed to capture this whole Glasgow industrial-meets-artistic vibe without making it feel forced or theme-park-ish. The building sits right on Waterloo Street, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better – you’re literally a two-minute walk from Central Station (which saved my life when I was running late for my Edinburgh train), and Glasgow’s shopping heart on Buchanan Street is just around the corner.

The rooms have this really thoughtful design where they’ve woven in local stories and artwork that actually means something. I mean, you can tell someone really researched Glasgow’s history instead of just slapping some tartan on the walls and calling it Scottish. My room faced the street, and yes, you’ll hear some city noise – it’s central Glasgow, after all – but it dies down after the evening rush. The bed was proper comfortable, and I loved that they had a rainfall shower (though the bathroom was a bit snug, which seems to be the trade-off with these converted buildings). What really impressed me was the attention to detail – decent coffee setup, USB ports where you actually need them, and blackout curtains that work.

The restaurant downstairs serves food that’s way better than your typical hotel fare, and the staff genuinely seem to know their stuff about both the menu and the city. I asked about good spots for live music, and the front desk guy – without missing a beat – rattled off three venues within walking distance and even mentioned which nights had the best sessions. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake. The whole place runs smoothly too; check-in was quick, housekeeping was spot-on, and when I needed an extra pillow at midnight (don’t ask), someone appeared with it in about five minutes. With an 8.8 rating, you’re getting solid four-star quality without the stuffiness that sometimes comes with it. If you’re planning to explore Glasgow properly – and you should, because this city has serious character – this hotel puts you right in the thick of things while giving you a genuinely comfortable base to return to.

Hotels near me in Glasgow offer convenient access to the city center, where guests can easily walk to Glasgow Cathedral, Merchant City, and authentic Scottish pubs.

Reviews of Hotel Indigo Glasgow by IHG

  • Exceptional – Jhorose from Canada – September 3, 2025 (10/10)

Very clean facilities and the room is gorgeous. One of the best place we stayed at in Scotland! Very close by restaurants and the reception (Ivana) is very friendly. She recommended many local restaurants and even recommended so much places to visit in Scotland! My boyfriend and I are driving through the whole country and her recommendations helped us plan our trip better😊. The breakfast is exceptional as well. Perfect for before we hike Conic Hill! 100% would recommend. There are no hotel parking but there is a parking building beside it and the hotel will give you a discount if you give them your parking ticket. 100% recommended!

  • Central location, close to everything in Glasgow – Fotios from Ireland – August 28, 2025 (9/10)

The room is clean and the staff is friendly. From a location perspective, all buses and the train station are walking distance while only a short walk from the river. The accommodation was excellent, but the people made our stay exceptional. A special thanks to Ivana (from Serbia), whose advice for Glasgow and the Scottish countryside were perfect. Thank you.

What could be improved: There was nothing we didn't like in the hotel.

  • Would definitely return to this hotel if in Glasgow. – Diana from United Kingdom – August 28, 2025 (9/10)

  • Great stay at Glasgow – Deb from United Kingdom – August 26, 2025 (8/10)

Very Clean. Plenty of choice for breakfast included. Excellent location. Lovely helpful friendly staff. Option to leave luggage before check in and after check out.

What could be improved: Lighting in room was a bit dreary with red lamp shades. White would have been better as small window with little natural light. . Wasn't keen on having a connecting door.
