JOIVY Stylish House with Garden & Parking Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to JOIVY Stylish House with Garden & Parking on Portugal Street, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The name is a bit of a mouthful, and you know how these rental companies can sometimes overpromise. But actually stepping inside? Yeah, this place delivers on the “stylish” part. The interior has this really nice contemporary feel without being cold or sterile – think clean lines mixed with warm touches that make it feel like someone’s actual home rather than a cookie-cutter rental.
What really sold me was the garden situation. I mean, finding decent outdoor space in Glasgow can be tricky, especially somewhere you can actually relax without traffic noise constantly buzzing in the background. This spot manages to feel surprisingly peaceful despite being right in the South Side. The parking is clutch too – and I’m saying this as someone who’s circled blocks in Glasgow for twenty minutes looking for a spot more times than I care to count. Having your own designated space is honestly worth its weight in gold here. The house itself feels more spacious than you’d expect, with enough room to spread out if you’re staying for more than just a quick weekend. I particularly liked how the living areas flow together naturally – you can cook dinner while chatting with people in the lounge area, that sort of thing.
Location-wise, you’re well-positioned without being in the absolute thick of things, which honestly worked out perfectly for me. Portugal Street puts you close enough to the city center that you’re not spending a fortune on taxis, but far enough south that you get a bit of that residential Glasgow vibe. The Gorbals is right there if you want some proper dining options, and getting to the Merchant City or West End is straightforward enough. I found the whole area pretty walkable during the day, though like anywhere in Glasgow, I’d probably grab a taxi back late at night rather than wandering around solo. The 7.8 rating feels about right – it’s a solid choice that does what it promises, with good bones and thoughtful touches throughout. The four-star designation makes sense too; you’re getting proper amenities and comfort without the stuffiness of a formal hotel. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place rather than just another anonymous rental, this hits that sweet spot nicely.

Reviews of JOIVY Stylish House with Garden & Parking
Promising but disappointing – Veronica from United Kingdom – August 4, 2025 (7/10)
The house was comfortable and in a decent location. If you don't like stairs, this may not be for you as the primary room is on the 3rd floor. Lots of kids in the area, and it feels very safe.
What could be improved: The description was inaccurate wrt the kitchen and general shape of the house- there was only 1 small sauce pan and a frying pan (no spatula) to cook with, and nothing to cook in the oven with. While there was 1 other pot, it was missing handles and was deeply crusted with black stuff rendering is useless. The blender was there, but missing the collar synthetic couldn't be used. There weren't any bowls larger than a cereal bowl so making anything that required mixing was a no. It was also supposed to have a dishwasher as well, i believe, but thatbwas also not a thing. I reached out to Joivy more than once and I never received a response, and Booking.com wasn't very responsive, either. The house is a bit rough and needs some repairs and maintenance-the blinds were almost completely pulled off the rolls in the living room, and there are holes/rough patches all over the place. Had the listing been as described, I think it would have been great. We had a great stay and would come again. – Casey from United Kingdom – July 24, 2025 (7/10)
The property was great, very clean and ideal for a group
What could be improved: The location was great for us attending the festival on Glasgow Green, a little far away for city centre.
The property was extremely hot, we visited on one of the hottest weekends however the property held no fans or aircon.Central Glasgow with good facilities. – Ardrey from United Kingdom – April 15, 2025 (9/10)
The off-street parking was great for me. The property has plenty of bathroom facilities for a group of travellers or a family.
What could be improved: When we arrived, the cleaning hadn't been done. It was rectified immediately by the company, and they were brilliant at sorting it.Perfect location and size for our stay – Monika from France – May 14, 2024 (9/10)
The location is quiet and easy to reach with public transport or with a 20 min walk from the city centre.
A supermarket, which was open until late and on sunday, is at 5 min walking distance.
What could be improved: The big windows of the master bedroom cannot be covered completely with the curtains and there are no blinds. The sleeping sofa in the living room is a bit worn down and not very comfortable for sleeping.Fantastic! – Richard from United Kingdom – April 7, 2025 (10/10)
Everything was brilliant for our stay for two nights…as and when i/we come back to glasgow in the future ill be looking to stay here again
Disappointing – Jim from Canada – May 23, 2025 (5/10)
Walking distance to city centre. Parking.
What could be improved: Grubby and poorly maintained. “Garden” is actually a paved yard and is unusable being taken up by 5 overflowing garbage cans.JOIVY – Yong from South Korea – June 24, 2025 (8/10)
