The location is pretty ideal if you ask me; you’re walking distance from Buchanan Street for shopping, the financial district if you’re here for business, and it’s an easy hop to the Merchant City area for dinner. Parking can be a bit tricky around the square itself, but the hotel sorts that out for you. One small thing – the elevators are original and charming but also pretty slow, so factor that in if you’re on a tight schedule. The restaurant downstairs serves decent modern Scottish fare, though I found myself wandering out to explore Glasgow’s food scene more often than not, which the staff seemed to encourage rather than take offense to. It’s that kind of confidence that comes from knowing you’re offering something genuinely special rather than trying to keep guests captive.
