Lodge 37 Rowardennan, Loch Lomond Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Lodge 37 Rowardennan, Loch Lomond, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect — the name suggests something rustic, maybe a bit basic. But this four-star property surprised me right away. The building sits right on the shores of Loch Lomond, and I mean literally steps from the water, which you don’t fully appreciate until you’re standing there. The parking is right on-site and free, which might sound trivial until you’ve spent a fortune on hotel parking elsewhere in Scotland.
The Location Magic
Here’s what the photos don’t tell you — Rowardennan is at the end of the road, literally. You drive through increasingly beautiful countryside, and then the road just stops at the loch. That means no through traffic, no noise, just this peaceful spot where the West Highland Way hiking trail passes right by the front door. I watched hikers trudging past with their massive backpacks while I sipped coffee on the terrace, feeling slightly guilty about my comfortable circumstances. The location gets a 9.6 rating from guests, and honestly, I get why — you’re surrounded by mountains and water in every direction.
The Room Experience
My room faced the loch, which I’d definitely recommend requesting when you book. The furnishings are modern but not flashy — think clean lines and muted colors that don’t compete with the view outside your window. The bed was properly comfortable, and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works well. What I appreciated most was the attention to small details — good lighting for reading, plenty of outlets, and blackout curtains that actually block out the Scottish summer’s ridiculously long daylight hours.
Dining and Atmosphere
The restaurant here focuses on local ingredients, which sounds like marketing speak until you taste the venison or the fresh fish. I had dinner there both nights of my stay, partly because the food was excellent and partly because driving anywhere else felt like a waste when I was already in such a perfect spot. The dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows facing the loch, so even indoor meals feel connected to the landscape. Service was friendly without being overly chatty — they seem to understand that many guests come here for the peace and quiet.
Why Guests Love It
This place works particularly well for couples, apparently — the feedback mentions that specifically, and I can see why. There’s something inherently romantic about being tucked away at the edge of a Scottish loch, especially when you can walk out the front door and be on hiking trails within minutes. The 8.7 overall rating reflects what I experienced — it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Scotland, but it does what it does really well. You come here for the location and the tranquility, and you leave feeling like you’ve actually experienced the Scottish Highlands rather than just passed through them.
Early hotels booking in Glasgow requires advance planning during peak tourist seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s legendary music scene, Victorian squares, and Scottish cultural attractions.

Reviews of Lodge 37 Rowardennan, Loch Lomond
Overpriced accommodation in attractive location. – Fiona from United Kingdom – September 4, 2025 (5/10)
Location was beautiful.
What could be improved: The lodge was not clean. The beds were not comfortable. The property clearly needs updating and renovation. It is very expensive for the standard provided. However, there are limited alternatives on this stage of the West Highland Way which no doubt book out first.Exceptional – Ashley from United Kingdom – July 26, 2025 (10/10)
Prachtig en helaas te kort verblijf. – Geert from Belgium – June 30, 2025 (10/10)
Prachtige omgeving, zeer ruime lodge met alle voorzieningen. Vriendelijk personeel.

The landscape was beautiful. The cabin was nice. The showers got hot, which was very much appreciated!
What could be improved: The internet/ tv connection was terrible. We were watching a movie and about an hour in, it just stopped due to poor connection.Very Good – Russell from United Kingdom – September 26, 2024 (8/10)

Beautiful lodge: stay here for at least a week! – Jim from United Kingdom – September 2, 2024 (10/10)
Lodge 37 is a beautiful, luxury lodge in the banks of Loch Lomond.
We can not rate it highly enough.
Unfortunately, we only stayed one night, as we were walking the West Highland Way, but we wished we could have stayed longer.
We didn't get a chance to fire up the BBQ or sit around the fire pit or even use all of the lovely cooking gear.
We just used it as overnighter and it served us very well.
What could be improved: BBQ looked a bit tired. Other than that, all wonderful.Very Disappointing and not value for money – Cherie from United Kingdom – August 29, 2024 (3/10)
Beautiful lodge but let down by the faults
What could be improved: On arrival alot of things were broken & not clean
Fridge is warm so doesnt keep anything cool, coffee table is broken, wardrobe doors are missing, one of the dining chairs were broken, bedroom tv was broke, food found underneath the sofa, also found glass, rat poision and rusty nails on the floor which isnt great when you have a crawling baby!! Couple of towels were dirty along with cob webs and spiders in corners. The bedroom blind and shower doors were also broken.Great stay – Eleanor from United Kingdom – August 22, 2024 (10/10)
