Lomond View Lodge Overview

You know what struck me first about Lomond View Lodge? It’s not actually in Glasgow proper – it’s tucked away in this incredibly peaceful spot at Rowardennan, right on the shores of Loch Lomond. I mean, the address says Glasgow, but honestly, you’re looking at about an hour’s drive north through some gorgeous Scottish countryside to get here. The moment I pulled up (parking‘s right there, no stress), I realized this wasn’t going to be your typical city break experience.

The lodge sits in this cluster of eight beautifully converted buildings that feel more like upscale cabins than hotel rooms. What I loved – and this is something you don’t get from the photos – is how quiet it gets here, especially in the evenings. You can actually hear the loch lapping against the shore, and if you’re lucky with the weather, the views across to Ben Lomond are absolutely spectacular. I stayed in late September, and the morning mist rolling off the water was something else entirely. The rooms themselves are proper cozy – think exposed beams, quality Scottish textiles, and those little touches that show someone actually thought about what travelers need (decent WiFi, plenty of plugs, blackout curtains that actually work).

What really sets this place apart, though, is the location for exploring. You’re literally steps away from the West Highland Way if you’re into hiking, and the loch itself is perfect for a morning walk or even a paddle if you’re brave enough. I watched guests launching kayaks right from the shoreline – the staff can sort that out for you, actually. The nearby village of Balmaha is just a short drive south, and there’s this brilliant little pub there if you fancy a proper Scottish meal without the lodge prices. Honestly, I was surprised by how many people were using this as a base for day trips – you can reach the Trossachs easily, and even Stirling’s not that far if you want to mix in some history with all the nature. The only thing I’d mention is that you’ll definitely want a car here; it’s not the kind of place you can just pop out for supplies or a quick bite. But that isolation is exactly what makes it special – you’re getting that proper Scottish Highland experience without having to rough it in a tent.

  • Beautiful nature stay – Anamariadl from United Kingdom – July 5, 2025 (8/10)

Great location, beautiful vewis and lots of silence. There are many walks nearby plus the pier on a sunny day is lovely. Comfortable stay throughout. Friendly host and seamless chec in and out.

What could be improved: I wish we knew there was no shower gel as minimum. The bunk bed room is ultra tiny.

  • Great location for exploring the Loch Lomand area. – Janet from United States – May 20, 2025 (10/10)

Nice to have a few items in the fridge – Milk, bread, jam and more. Really thoughtful!

What could be improved: We really found the place extra nice! The three bedrooms and two full baths were more than ample. It was really comfortable and cute!

  • Beautiful Lodge in a fantastic location. – Mary from United Kingdom – May 6, 2025 (10/10)

  • Was wonderful, had a lovely birthday week here. X – Elaine from United Kingdom – November 23, 2024 (10/10)

What could be improved: The steps were quite slippy and the dog had a hard time with them.

  • A relaxing short break and will definitely be back. – Sharleen from United Kingdom – October 2, 2024 (10/10)

Had everything we needed in it. Beautiful location for lovely walks and loch dips. Neighbours were fab. Bed and bedding particularly comfortable. Netflix and prime were logged in for us to watch. It was great to have a lock on the balcony so the dog could be outside but not run away.

What could be improved: Genuinely nothing! Loved it!

  • 3 jours paisibles en famille – Claire from France – May 3, 2025 (10/10)

  • Very Good – Jannie from Denmark – July 21, 2025 (8/10)

    Hyggelig hytte ved dejlig sø

  • Ottima location per passare un soggiorno in totale relax. – Remo from Italy – August 20, 2024 (8/10)

Location fantastica.
