I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name Lovely 2 Bed Duplex Apartment with Hydro Views, I thought it sounded a bit too good to be true. But after staying here on Finnieston Street, I get why they went with such a descriptive name instead of something fancy. This place actually delivers on every single word in that title.

The location is what really makes this spot shine. You’re right in the heart of Finnieston, which honestly feels like Glasgow‘s coolest neighborhood these days. I mean, you can walk to the Hydro in literally three minutes – I timed it because I’m that kind of person – and the whole Clyde waterfront is right there. What’s brilliant though is that you’re on a residential street, so you don’t get the concert crowd noise that some of the flashier hotels closer to the venue deal with. The duplex setup means you’ve got proper space to spread out, which is rare in city center accommodations. Upstairs, the bedrooms have these lovely views over the water (hence the “hydro views” bit), and honestly, watching the light change on the Clyde throughout the day never got old.

The apartment itself feels like staying in a friend’s really well-appointed flat rather than a hotel room. There’s a proper kitchen downstairs where you can actually cook – not just one of those sad mini-fridges and a kettle situations. The living area has this comfortable, lived-in feel without being shabby, if you know what I mean. I appreciated the little touches, like having decent coffee in the cupboard and enough towels that you don’t feel like you’re rationing them. The shower pressure is excellent, which matters more than people admit when they’re writing reviews. One thing to note – it’s a flat conversion, so you will hear some footsteps from upstairs neighbors occasionally, but nothing that kept me awake. The WiFi was solid throughout both floors, which was crucial since I was working remotely during my stay. Parking can be a bit tricky on Finnieston Street itself, but there’s usually something on the side streets, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you probably won’t want to drive much anyway. The whole area is incredibly walkable, and you’ve got the subway nearby if you need to get across town quickly. What really impressed me was how the host had clearly thought about what actual travelers need – proper hangers, good lighting for getting ready, and a coffee table you can actually use for eating or working.

    The Apartment is clean and well appointed. The hosts (Thiago) was very quick to respond to any of our queries and made sure that we had a comfortable stay. I would definitely go back and stay at this apartment in a heartbeat. This was an easy 5 on 5 for us.

    Looks luxurious, large kitchen/living room area, very comfortable beds. Nice views.

    What could be improved: Broken shower controls in both bathrooms, hard to regulate water temperature. Not the cleanest space. There was no A/C, and the rooms got very warm in the afternoon- but perhaps this is a bit atypical weather for Scotland.

    What could be improved: The front door key opening is a challenge. Momentarily, you feel you are stuck in or out. Shower controls are faulty in both, and kids really struggled to shower- either super hot or cold. Arrival instructions were clear. Key collected from a locker on opposite road. Owner contacted me on phone on arrival to check time of arrival. After that, there was no response to call or messages.Zero response. Luckily, we didn't have any major issues. Self check-in and checkout.
