The two bedrooms are genuinely spacious – not those shoebox affairs you sometimes get in converted buildings – and there’s this lovely kitchen that opens right onto the living area where you can make proper breakfast while watching the river wake up.

What really sold me on this spot though is the location within Glasgow itself. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from Byres Road (honestly, some of the best pubs and shops in the city), and the subway station at Partick is close enough that you can hop over to the city center whenever you want. But here’s the thing – you don’t really need to leave this little pocket of the West End because everything good is right here. There’s a decent Tesco just down Dumbarton Road for groceries, and if you walk five minutes toward the university, you’ll hit all these brilliant little cafes that most tourists never find. I spent way too much time at Singl-end getting properly good coffee and watching the river traffic – there’s something oddly mesmerizing about the occasional boat cruising past your temporary front door.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel experience, which I reckon is exactly what they’re going for. No star rating system really captures this kind of boutique setup anyway – it’s just thoughtfully done. The bathroom’s modern without being sterile, there’s actual storage space (miracle!), and they’ve managed to keep all the character of the old building while making everything work properly. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’ve got a car – street parking mostly, but honestly, you won’t need it much once you’re settled in. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that corporate hotel rigmarole. I’d definitely come back, especially if I wanted to feel like I was actually living in Glasgow for a few days rather than just passing through it.
