There’s this brilliant little bakery just around the corner that does proper Scottish morning rolls, and you’ll hear actual Glaswegians chatting over their coffee instead of guidebook-clutching tourists asking where the nearest gift shop is. The walk into town takes you through some gorgeous Victorian streets that Instagram never seems to capture quite right, probably because the light hits the sandstone buildings in this moody way that only looks good in person.

What really sold me on this place was how it manages to feel both spacious and cozy at the same time. The two bedrooms are actually generous – not those cramped London-style “bedrooms” where you’re bumping into furniture every time you turn around. The kitchen‘s properly equipped too, which matters if you’re staying more than a couple nights and get tired of eating out (though honestly, with places like Singl-end and The Gannet within walking distance, you might not cook much).
