Luxury Glasgow Flat in the heart of the Westend Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Glasgow, but the Luxury Glasgow Flat in the heart of the Westend on Otago Street really surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you first walk up to this Victorian terrace building, you might think “okay, nice neighborhood,” but honestly, you don’t realize how perfectly positioned you are until you start exploring. This is proper West End territory, where you’ve got students mixing with professionals, and that energy just spills out onto the streets.

The flat itself sits right at ground level, which I actually loved because there’s something about those big Georgian windows that makes the whole place feel connected to the street life outside. You know what struck me first? The attention to detail – this isn’t your typical rental property where someone just threw together whatever furniture they had lying around. The owner clearly gets what travelers actually want. The kitchen has proper equipment (I made dinner twice, and everything I needed was there), and the living space has this lived-in comfort that boutique hotels try so hard to recreate but rarely nail. Sure, it doesn’t have an official star rating, but honestly, those classifications don’t mean much when you’re dealing with unique properties like this anyway.

What really sold me on the location was discovering Ashton Lane literally around the corner – you can stumble back from Òran Mór after a few drinks without having to navigate the chaos of Byres Road. Speaking of which, Byres Road is close enough for all your shopping and dining needs, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the weekend crowds right outside your door. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the Blythswood Square Hotel or anything flashy like that, but for what it is – a proper Glasgow base where you can actually live like a local for a few days – it delivers. I’d definitely book it again, especially if I wanted to show friends what the West End is really about rather than sticking them in some generic city center chain hotel.

Reviews of Luxury Glasgow Flat in the heart of the Westend

  • Great location, comfortable stay, and value for money! – Faizah from United Kingdom – April 28, 2025 (8/10)

The flat is in a really convenient location, very near Kelvinbridge subway station and the Great Western Road. There is a Co-Op nearby for groceries and many other restaurants. The flat is great for a family of 4, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The radiators heat up very fast and are in every room, which was great to keep the chill away. There were many pillows, blankets, throws, bedsheets and towels provided, which was appreciated. The kitchen also came with a Nespresso, alongside basic condiments such as salt, sugar, oil, and tea/coffee. All in all, great location, comfortable stay, and value for money.

What could be improved: The only criticism I would have is that there weren't enough trashcans and trashbags provided. The bathrooms each should have one trashcan, and the kitchen should have at least 2 to sort general waste from organic waste.

  • Wonderful – Mary from United Kingdom – January 29, 2025 (9/10)

Great location and the flat was immaculate! Location is fantastic in the West End of Glasgow close to local amenities and bars and restaurants plus next to the Park. Particularly liked there being an en-suite bedroom particularly as we wert two women travelling together gave us both some privacy. Thank-you.

What could be improved: Nothing to dislike!

  • Very Good – Donna from United Kingdom – November 17, 2024 (8/10)

  • Absolutely lovely and highly recommended! – Jacqueline from United Kingdom – September 8, 2024 (9/10)

Great location, close to shops and underground! Flat was immaculate with well equipped kitchen including coffee machine. Lovely decor too.

What could be improved: For four adults we were a little short of seating, lovely sofa but someone had to sit on the floor.

  • Wonderful – Amanda from United Kingdom – October 24, 2023 (9/10)

  • Lovely flat , excellent lication – Nicolaas from New Zealand – December 11, 2024 (8/10)

    Location was excellent

What could be improved: Taking out the garbage

  • Great location, warm and comfortable flat for two people but needs some attention. – Susan from United Kingdom – September 29, 2024 (7/10)

The location was fantastic within walking distance of Kelvingrove, the Hunterian Art Gallery and the Botanic Gardens. The subway was minutes away and the area was full of restaurants and takeaways. The flat was warm with a lovely view over Kelvingrove Park. Having two bathrooms was a bonus and we enjoyed the big-screen TV with Netflix and other streaming platforms easily accessible.

What could be improved: We thought naming the apartment as deluxe was misleading. It was adequate for 2 people but would be a struggle for four. One bedroom was very small with the bed pushed up against the wall so no space for bedside light etc., the bed and tiny wardrobe took up most of the bedroom. The kitchen was tiny and when the door was open. there was only room for one person. There was only one sofa in the living room which would mean four people would have to squeeze on side by side. The mirrored door on the wardrobe in the main bedroom fell off when we slid open. The silicone around the bath was black which was unpleasant. We felt the whole apartment could do with a bit of TLC. A bin in the bathroom would have been appreciated.
