They’ve kept the original cornicing and these gorgeous high ceilings, but everything feels fresh and, well, luxurious without being pretentious about it. The rooms have this perfect balance of old Glasgow charm and modern comfort that’s honestly hard to find. My room had these huge windows overlooking the street, and you know what? The soundproofing is surprisingly good considering you’re right in the thick of things. I was worried about traffic noise, but I slept like a baby even on weeknight stays.

What really sets this place apart is the location – you’re literally a two-minute walk from Buchanan Street if you want to shop, but you’re also close enough to the Merchant City that you can easily wander over for dinner without dealing with taxis or public transport. I mean, you could walk to Queen Street Station in about five minutes, which is incredibly handy if you’re planning day trips to the Highlands or Edinburgh. The staff actually knows the area too – not just the obvious tourist spots, but they pointed me toward this little whisky bar tucked away on Mitchell Lane that I never would have found otherwise. Check-in was smooth, no fussing around with complicated key cards or anything, and they let me store my bags early which saved my entire first day. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the lift is one of those older, slower ones – not a big deal unless you’re on the fourth floor with heavy luggage, but the staff offered to help without me even asking. Honestly, for a four-star place in central Glasgow, the value is spot-on, especially if you catch it during the quieter months when rates drop a bit.
