Millerston House Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Millerston House on Cumbernauld Road, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The location is definitely more residential than touristy, but that actually turned out to be one of its biggest charms. You’re still technically in Glasgow, but it feels like you’ve escaped to somewhere quieter, you know? The building itself has this lovely character that immediately tells you this isn’t going to be your cookie-cutter hotel experience.
What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to create something genuinely unique without trying too hard. The owners have clearly put thought into every detail – I mean, you can tell when somewhere has been designed by people who actually care about hospitality rather than just filling rooms. The interiors have this perfect balance of elegant and comfortable, with furniture that looks like it belongs in someone’s well-appointed home rather than a hotel showroom. I particularly loved how quiet it was; being on Cumbernauld Road means you get easy access to the city center (honestly, it’s not bad at all by car or bus), but without the constant noise you’d get staying right in the thick of things in Merchant City or the West End.
The service here is what really sets it apart though – it’s that sweet spot where staff are incredibly attentive without being hovering or formal. They seem to genuinely know their guests, which makes sense given the intimate size of the place. Parking was straightforward, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Glasgow’s city center with a car will appreciate. The breakfast was actually memorable (and I’m usually pretty meh about hotel breakfasts), with local ingredients that felt thoughtful rather than just thrown together. What impressed me most was how the whole experience felt authentic – this is clearly a place that’s earned its 9.4 rating through consistently doing things right rather than flashy marketing. If you’re the type of traveler who values character over chain hotel predictability, and you don’t need to be within stumbling distance of Buchanan Street, Millerston House is honestly one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special.

I love it! The house is very spacious and comfortable. Each room has a TV, even in the kitchen! The house is clean and well organised. The kitchen is big, suitable for a family gathering. The place is quiet, good to escape the busy city. It is 10 to 15 minutes drive to Glasgow city. The host is very friendly and nice. He greeted us when we arrived and checked if we need anything else. Would love to stay there again next time, really recommended!

The location was very good, close to a park & on a main road for easy access to wherever you wanted to go. If you wanted to leave your car, the train & bus were both very convenient. The host was very friendly & helpful.
What could be improved: We were allowed to take a dog but the garden was not enclosed to allow the dog to run free.A lovely getaway! – Indumathi from Singapore – September 10, 2023 (9/10)
The home was very clean and the spacious kitchen was fully equipped for simple cooking which was very convenient for the family. We were pleasantly surprised by the lake close by which made it a very tranquil experience. The location was also ideal because there were food options nearby including take away places and a restaurant and moving around was a breeze because of the proximity to the bus stop. The great location made taking the bus into town a very good shout. The host was such a delightful person and we are glad we had a chance to interact. Al was very friendly and personally checked in on us to ensure everything was going well. Overall a pleasant and enjoyable stay!
We enjoyed our stay at Millerston and would consider a revisit – Gary from United Kingdom – July 21, 2023 (8/10)
The host was friendly and willing to help. Liked the space available, the provision of facilities like washing machine, dryer, kitchen utensils etc. There was easy access to a Co-Op supermarket on the same road. It is in a superb location for access to Glasgow by train, bus or car.
What could be improved: The toilet seat needs stabilising and the curtains in the back bedroom need fixing. It would be good to renew paper the cupboards and ensure that some crockery in lower cupboards are washed properlyCómodo y acogedor – Paloma from Spain – August 23, 2023 (10/10)
Cocina amplia, con todos los utensilios necesarios, salón grande, mucha luminosidad, adaptadores de cargador en todas las habitaciones de la casa, limpio, buena presentación
